    Vantage V HR

Whether you're making the rounds on nation-wide ultra circuits or trying to finally nail that BQ time, the Polar Vantage V HR is the versatile sports watch that you need to track your training with the diligent precision of the pros. It goes above and beyond what you might expect from a performance watch, helping you know exactly where you're at as you work towards your goals.

It all starts with the Polar Precision Prime heart rate monitor, an innovative new technology that combines optical heart rate measurement with skin contact measurement to give you the most accurate wrist reading possible. By combining the two methods of measurement, the watch reduces any inaccuracy that may be caused by movement, giving you a steady stream of information during even your most intense training sessions.

Also new and innovative to this watch is its Running Power metric. Running Power represents a more complete way to look at training output and progress, combining GPS, barometric, and heart rate data to give you a total look at your effort level, rather than just providing time ran and distance covered. This new way of approaching training is especially helpful for those intense speed and hill workouts, bringing you concrete data for those times in which your distance on paper may not match the effort you put in.

Polar also uses Running Power to calculate the load that your training sessions have put on muscles and joints. It's part of the Recovery Pro system built into the watch, which tracks your training history and recovery levels, then gives you personalized training recommendations based on the data. It'll also warn you when you're at risk of overtraining, injury, or illness, preventing you from being sidelined when race day finally comes.

    • Train with more efficiency than ever with this innovative watch
    • Running Power data gives you a more complete look at total effort
    • Wrist HR monitor stays accurate on even your most intense runs
    • Recovery Pro system helps you be smart and stay healthy as you train
    • Polar Flow App helps keep track of data in one place
    • 130 different sport functions are perfect for cross training
    • GPS and barometric readings give you a picture of your whole run
    • Sleep readings track the timing, amount, and quality of your sleep

    Love this watch

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have demo'd the Polar Vantage V on a bunch of my long runs this spring and have fallen in love with it! The ease of use, GPS accuracy, and bonus features make me want to take it out on all of my runs. It is super easy to use and the displays work wells showing you exactly what you need to know while you are running and getting updates from the watch.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Polar has been playing third fiddle in the fitness watch game for some time now, so I was pleasantly surprised to have the Vantage V outperform many of my expectations for a premium GPS watch.

What sets this watch apart for me is the entire Polar ecosystem. Once you make it past the slightly clunky setup, you'll never want to take the watch off. Multi-sport athletes will be able to capture every performance metric available from one input. With sleep, workout, daily activity and recovery tracking, you'll have a well-rounded view of your overall fitness as an athlete. Battery life is impressive, thus alleviating any need to adjust the GPS refresh rate to maximize run time.

The overall "footprint" of the Vantage on your wrist is small, which is a huge improvement over the small pucks that other watches offer. Bonus points for the retaining notch to hold the excess wrist strap in place.

    Very impressed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my first hr watch, it has a lot of features and it gets firmware updates regularly, polar spent a lot of time developing this watch and still is, the premium features are really nice but you could save a couple of dollars going with the vantage M, by surfing the web it seems they are almost the same, with very few features like recovery and running power only available in this watch.
Overall im very satisfied, the price is a bit high but the design and the weight of the watch are amazing. Another important feature is the polar flow app it's like having strava premium for free, very intuitive and lots of feedback provided by the app itself.
If you are a serious athlete or want to go to the next level of tracking your workouts, runs or rides this watch will deliver

    Unanswered Question

Just bought one and received it and the screen looks nothing like it does in the screenshots or the review videos. Really dull and not bright. My FitBit Ionic looks so much better and so much easier to read. Was looking forward to this beauty but kind of disappointed. Display seems like a deal breaker.
