Feel the flow.

Dirt-jumpin', park-ridin', snow-shreddin' hooligans have been digging the POC Receptor Flow Helmet for years, but POC's designers have updated this year's version to make it even better. It rocks the same polycarbonate in-mold shell and in-mold EPS liner as previous editions, but with a slimmer profile that gives you a sleeker, not-as-mushroomy look. The new Flow also has been hooked up with a size-adjustment system to serve up a snugger fit, and it has maximized the ventilation possibilities to keep your cerebellum from overheating.

poc helmet

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

my 10 year old out grew his mohawk inspired kids helmet. decided to get him a "brand name" helmet and he loves it and his sunglass fit nicely without rubbing on the ends of his ear pieces

Great Value

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I set out to find a do all helmet that I can use for the wide variety of outdoor sports I participate in. Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Skiing, Canyoneering, Base Jumping, Sky Diving, the list goes on. This helmet does it all. Looks are sharp, fit is on the small side but comfortably sits for all day use. The new slimmer design looks great. There are lighter options, but weight has never been an issue for me.

Comfortable and affordable

I bought this helmet and my first impression was that it was kind of heavy but after a few minutes with it it just felt awesome, good shape, reaaally comfortable, and its price go with the core of the brand, a secure helmet with all the best benefits.

    New to biking

This helmet stood out when I was looking at the gazillion choices. It's super light weight and really comfortable. I like that I can use it for other things too like skiing and what not. Happy with my purchase.

      Stylish and simple

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love POC ski helmets, and have the Receptor Backcountry for the winter months, so i decided to pick up this Receptor Flow helmet for riding. It's basically the bike version of my ski helmet. However, the padding isn't quite as comfortable my ski helmet, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. It is stylish, simple and still fits well though.

      Not designed for the ladies

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really WANTED to like this helmet, but after almost 10,000 miles I definitely won't be buying another one. The velcro on the inside is really great at ripping your hair out...and rarely stays in place. Additionally, the foam inserts WILL fall out sooner or later and getting a replacement is a pain. Also, now that I've started riding much longer distances (100 mile days) in drop bars, the weight of this helmet has become an issue. Probably great for dudes on shorter rides, but ladies...I'd go with a Giro, or if you have the dough, a Smith.

      Awesome Head Gear

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is extremely well made and stylish to boot. Light wieght while still giving you confidence when bombing down a trail. Speer fast delivery from Backcountry!

      Sturdy Helmet

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I had to return this helmet just because it didn't fit my head well. It felt tight. I have POC Trabec M/L which fits well. The M/L in this model was too tight.

Other tan the fit it looks like a great helmet. Well built and sturdy. It sat low and didn't look goofy.

      Awesome blue!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The color of this helmet really makes it. I bought the very intense royal blue color with a flat finish looks really good. The fit is good with very thick padding which would probably accommodate a variety of head shapes and sizes. The chin strap fabric is smooth and comfortable. Not too heavy for a commuter type helmet.

      great BMX helment

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've worn POC helmets for other types of cycling and they have always been excellent and the Receptor flow held up to their standards. Very well made all around. I bought this for my son who has really like it and said it's very comfortable while in actual use with no issues. He usually wears a M and was the same in the POC.

      I love this helmet

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I admit that I bought the Receptor Flow for the looks. It's good that it's safe too, but I've never tested that. I do everything with this lid, from rock climbing to skiing to biking, though I don't think it's certified for the former two. When I got it, it fit funny, but after a while, it broke in and got comfortable. Though my head should be a 'large' I bought the Xl/xxl size so I could wear a hat beneath it and it fits great because of the adjustment system. the only complaint is one I've seen before, the front pad's polygiene layer is coming apart from the foam. They send you another one with the helmet and if worst comes to worst, it's not hard to glue it in. besides that, it's really well built and I don't foresee any build issues.

Also, way less important, but Go Pro curved mounts fit the helmet really well.

Ventilation is okay, not the greatest, but not bad either.

Depending on where you live, people might ask you about it. It's definitely a unique, cool looking helmet that I genuinely love and trust that I feel was (and still is) worth the money.

      Great Helmet

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The POC Receptor Flow helmet is a great alternative to your typical race style bike helmet. I use it when riding around town or to the nearest grocery store. It’s comfortable, sits low on my head, and looks great. If you’re between sizes, pick the bigger size. I don’t think I have a huge head, but the XL/XXL is barely big enough.

      Best In Class

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have a hard time finding helmets to fit so i was nervous to buy but super happy with it. size adjust system is awesome. helmet has a nice snug fit, super comfy and stays in place no matter how rough the conditions are!

      Great dirt jumping helmet

I bought this as my dirt jumping helmet, its super comfortable and makes you feel protected. It breathes well and its so light weight that after a few minutes of wearing it you will forget it is even on your head.

        Great helmet!

Bought this for my 13 year old son to use while skating and cycling and so far nothing but good things from him. It's comfortable and he loves the style which means he'll wear it! Got a great deal here at Backcountry too!

          Addicted to POC

I've had this helmet for some time now, over a yr, and it has met my every expectation. I use this helmet when I ride my MTB 3-4 times a week (even winter) and ski as much as I can, its even been used for kayaking. It the winter I was worried i would get too cold with the helmet on because I couldn't wear it with a hat, but I've never had an issue. I would recommend wearing a buff or bandana to cover your ears during winter use but other than that its fine. When biking its hardly noticeable except for when it saves me :) There is only 1 issue for me and that is the pad for the forhead only lasted me 6months, luckily the helmet came with a spare which has held up so far but i doubt I'll get another 3-4 months out of it. I don't know if it's me or the pad but this will be something I need to replace every so often. But it's not enough for me to ditch the helmet

            Great All Around Helmet

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I may have commandeered my boyfriend's helmet, it's that good. He has an older model of the Receptor Flow, and the thing has held up over years of continuous use. Use it in the summertime for biking, and I use it in the winter for skiing (just throw on a beanie underneath and you're set). Very comfortable, no issues with it sliding around or coming apart. I would definitely recommend measuring your head to get the right size, I was surprised that I was in an XL.

            Great Commuter Helmet

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First, Backcountry is awesome. Customer service is great, and provided excellent product knowledge re: POC's helmet fit. In terms of the POC Receptor Flow, it is a great commuter helmet. Color is excellent, and fit is perfect. I'd give it 5 stars, but the only short coming I have encountered is that the lining on the inside pad that rests against your forehead came off after about a month of riding every day in the hot, humid Texas heat. There is a replacement pad that comes with the helmet, but then what? At the time of this review, I have not reached out to Backcountry's customer service to find out. If Backcountry can advise how I can get extra frontal lobe pads for this great helmet, I'll change my rating to 5 stars. I'll be looking to replace my existing mountain bike helmet soon with the POC Trabec helmet.
