At less than a pound, the Oazo Alpine Touring Binding is most certainly an ultralight, minimalist binding that's worthy to be in Plum's race collection; however, it's a bit beefier than any other binding in that collection, making it more ideal for training, mountaineering, and expeditions. For starters, there are reliable release ratings to promote safer skiing, and the lateral release rating is adjustable while the forward is permanently set at a stout 8. There are two heel risers to assist on variably steep skin tracks, and the heel rail adjusts about three boot sizes in case you have different boots. Too Facile technology offers an easier entry compared to most tech bindings, and there are attachments for crampons and leashes for further customization.
