Big Zip EVO Lumbar Reservoir
Designed for your waist, hip, or fanny pack, the Platypus Big Zip EVO Lumbar Reservoir makes sure you stay hydrated whether you're on the trail or commuting through town. Built with plastic that is BPA-, BPS, and phthalate-free, you'll notice no faint flavor in your crystal clear h-two-oh, and it carries up to 2 liters of the stuff. The bladder is well-designed, with easy filling and drinking features, as well as a leak-proof shut-off for the valve. A semi-rigid center baffle provides low-profile support, and additionally makes the reservoir easier to clean and dry out.

Old Big Zip was better
Old big ZIP was better easier to clean. New bags are terrible. Who ever designed this should be fired.

I am very displeased
My reservoir was delivered two days before my backpacking trip and arrived with a small hole in it. This caused it to leak and resulted in the inability to use it during my backpacking trip. I was extremely disappointed in the fact that it arrived in this poor condition because I specifically bought this because it was supposed to be a good brand. I tried calling the number for the website and no one ever answered so I am very displeased and will not make another purchase from this company.

Confused
Purchased a 3L and loved it…..until the bite valve came off and we found that the bite valve & shut off valve were filled with some sort of gel-like substance. Can’t even remotely clean it out. Searched for info on what it is, and can’t figure out what it is. SO disappointed.

Non sealing
I have used various Platypus units since they first hit the market. I got a 2L Evo as my Big Zip SL developed a small hole at the bottom. I put this in my bag and into the boot of the car. Ninety minutes later most of the water was in my rucksack or the car. The top seal is hopeless even with the poorly fitting blue “handle”. Water pours out. Useless. What have you done Platypus?

Bring back old platypus
I loved the 3L big zip LP with the platypus bag. I told myself I’d never buy another brand. But now platypus has changed their bladder and it does not fit properly in their old bag. And to make matters worse they don’t even sell bags anymore to fit their new EVO packs. This company has gone downhill fast.

Shut-off valve a weakness
I bought one of these on the 18th of June for my son to use on his Duke of Edinburgh bronze expedition. I've had Platypus products before so I know they are good quality. However I'm disappointed with this one. The reservoir and the tubing are very good and there really is no bad taste. but the shut-off valve is a poor design. My son was out in the wild for less than two days and the shut-off valve fell out of the tube and was lost. It's easy to see how it would fall out as it only has one ridge on the bayonet that goes into the tube; all the other fittings have two or three ridges and they seem to be wider so they will 'dig in' more to the side of the tube. In terms of design this has to be either an oversight or a petty attempt at cost-saving. It's a shame, because now I either risk buying a Platypus valve that might get lost, or try one from a random factory in China that has three ridges, but might not be food safe.

Happy Customer
Really happy with the bladder. The flow is much better than other brands I have used. I'm wondering if there is a recommended length of time before it's suggested to buy a new one to avoid any plastic leaching into the water?

Customer service
After having a slight issue with my big zip Evo I was contacted by customer services and it was swiftly replaced. Have to say it was probably the best customer service I've ever received and I will definitely be purchasing more products in the future. Thanks very much platypus.

Centre baffle split?
In general I am happy with the bladder, no leaks and tasted good from the start so quite happy. Main bad point is the centre baffle has come apart at the bend so it fills like one big balloon. I should have returned it at the time but I thought it was a feature and I could re attach it whenever I wanted to, but now that I want to I've discovered it doesn't re attach. I'm sure I remember something about expanding it for more volume, but can't find anything on it now, and now it takes up to much room in my new bag so it's a bit useless. I like it apart from that tho but can't rate higher as can't use ot. I only use water in it so cleaning easy

ON/OFF valve not very durable
The bladders themselves have been durable over the years I have used them. The updated ON/OFF valves are not robust and break easily.
