William Locking Carabiner
The Petzl William Lock Carabiner's extra-large gate opening makes it an excellent choice for anchors, belaying, and any other time you need a massive locking carabiner. The William is indispensable for belaying directly from the anchor point with a Munter hitch on single or double rope. Petzl also gave this locking carabiner a large basket to accept multiple slings and 'biners at complex anchors. Have you ever been on a wall climb when this didn't happen?
- Keylock nose
- Straight locking gate
- Large basket

awkward size and hard to open
the trilock is really difficult to open with one hand and their large size really limits its usefulness.

True, but those two features are very much the point of this particular carabiner's design.

A solid locker but quite large
I got this and a grigri 2 as a birthday present for my girlfriend. It's a solid locking carabineer but it's really big. I like to be able to open and close the carabineer with one hand if I'm using it with a belay device. This one was almost too big for me and definitely too big for my girlfriend. Still a solid carabineer, just large to use with a belay device IMO.

Keeps you from forgetting to screw your locking biner closed. Also super easy to use if you only have one hand available. It has a nice size to it too. Petzl really did it with this one. Super Stoked!!

I like how this carabiner has a wider mouth so you can get around bigger objects if you need to. I have used this a lot working on truss and scaffolding and it works out really well in those aspects. Have yet to use it actually climbing yet.

Top Rope Anchor Biner
I use this biner for running my rope through while top roping. I think it's much safer to use two, opposite and opposing Williams so that nothing can fluke and send me falling. I think that these biners are nice and light, easy to carry to the top and wear nicely against the rope's friction.

This number one thing I need from a biner is that is works (duh?) and this sure does. Its a good size and the locking mechanism is simple allowing for easy efficient use.

The William is big. The William is strong. The William holds my Grigri all day long.

Great Carabiner for Anchor Master Point
I use screw-gate lockers for almost all of my locking carabiner needs (and primarily the Petzl Am'D), but I keep a pair of these for toprope or multi-pitch anchor master points. The extra-large basket allows for easy clip-ins of potentially multiple anchor pieces, and I like the triact auto-lock for piece of mind when the biner isn't easily viewable in a toprope scenario. Screw gates can come unlocked through see-sawing motion against the rock face; I've yet to see this guy even come close to getting accidentally popped. Yes, the triact is a pain to use, but for specific uses there isn't a better carabiner.

Perfect for a Belay Carabiner
This Carabiner opens easily with one hand and has plenty of room for repelling and belaying.

not so psyched
The shape of the biner is v. good, but the handling and locking mechanism are not so great. I am going back to regular lockers. You end up doing about 30 times the work to get clipped. To quote the pres, NOT GOOD. Pay attention to the screwgate and be happy. IMHO

A carabiner with extra room.
This is a great carabiner for cleaning a route or using a SMART alpine device as it is nice and large. A great piece of equipment all around.

Picked the William up to use with my Pirana Descender. Works with the device well. No Complaints as of yet. Great locking carabiner.
