Awesome harness

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Bought this harness on the review from outdoorgearlab.com The review they posted is spot on. Easy to wear and use for belay. Very comfortable and no complaints.

Sama is comfortable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I use this harness for sport and single pitch trade. It is very comfortable and has enough room for a single rack. The only complaint that could be addressed is in the leg to waist ratio, with the leg size of the ratio being on the lower end. This has not affected me personally, but I have loaned it out to friends that could not use it because it was tight on their thighs.

I can second the thigh comment. I measured up and ordered a large per the size guide. The waist fits perfectly, however a lifetime of playing hockey, hiking, and cycling has given me larger legs. The thigh loops are almost too tight, but doable once I manage to slide it on.

Great for all climbers

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This harness is easily the most comfortable I have never worn. Currently only used it once outside, and a few times in the gym, but I have been very impressed. Doesn't ride up when belaying, has good sized loops for plenty of quickdraws (and trad gear if you need), and the price doesn't break the bank. I would recommend this to anyone from a beginner to a pro!

Solid all arounder

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. The Petzl Sama is a solid all around harness. I climb both indoors and outdoors, so I wore this during marathon sessions at the gym as well as while working my projects. Overall it is a comfortable harness, with no major frills or thrills, and is fine if you want something for all around use. I wear a size 32 pants, and got the medium harness. The waist band of the Petzl Sama is true to size, however the leg loops felt tight, and without the ability to adjust them it’s just something you have to get used to. The gear loops are smaller, making it better for sport climbing, however they are still big enough for a light trad rack. The Sama is quite durable and after almost a month of near daily usage, it has no significant wear. It is comfortable for regular use, and hanging from it while projecting or belaying is as comfortable as most harnesses get. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the Petzl Sama to someone looking for a specific trad or sport harness, or who already has an all arounder. But for an all arounder that will keep you comfy and safe, the Sama is a solid piece of gear that will last through your projects and gym sessions for a long while.

Thanks for the feedback, Eoghan!

How is the Sama for a trad rack? I've climbed the Petzl Sama harness over 100 days per year for the last 4 years mostly on trad. I need a new harness, but this year Petzl redid the gear loops and some other things.... I am concerned that the new configuration wont work well. It doesnt make sense to me the way they moved things around from the previous model (the orange sama).
