    Hand drilling made easy.

Whether you're drilling holes for anchors or replacing bolts, the Petzl Rocpec Drill is built to drill holes of various depths and diameters. To utilize this hand-powered drilling tool, simply place the drill bit against the rock surface and strike with the backside of the hammer as you twist the drilling-tool. The Rocpec's bits can be installed and removed easily without the use of additional tools.

    easy to use

Petzl RocPec - This is the standard for hand drills, hence why its probably the only one you can find out there. The easy loading and unloading of drill bits by sliding the collar down makes swapping bits extremely easy and straightforward. The handle is shaped very well especially for someone that has massive mitts like myself and the hammer guard helps prevent your misses from skulling your hand, especially during those tenuous stances. One nice feature that i am not sure is part of the design or for better grip are the raised rubber sections at every 90 degrees of the handle. As you drill you rotate a 1/4 turn with every whack, the raised rubber makes it easier to orientate your hand as you turn the bit as you go for the next strike.

      Nice but small

Small handle for those with bigger hands but still gets the job done. After your first bolt, you'll understand why those old school routes are so damn run out! Now imagine doing it on lead and in boots....

Nice little unit to carry to the crags where power drills
are "verboten" . Sure it takes a bit of work to make one hole,
but the product is light, fits well, and functions as to directions. A bit awkward getting the SDS bit it .

      Unanswered Question

I see that Petzl also sells the rocpec drill bit, is there something special about the rocpec that will not allow normal drill bits?
