    Meet the new standard.

Not only does the Petzl Reverso 4 Belay and Rappel Device give you serious stopping power when you're holding massive whippers, but it also functions as an auto-locking device when you're belaying the following climber directly off the anchor. This allows you to re-rack, tie your shoes, sip some water, and take a few photos without risking your climbing partner's life. Belaying two followers at once? No problem. Rappelling 15 pitches? The deep grooves give you plenty of control. Petzl also added a secondary clip-in point to help you release a locked rope if you need to lower a follower who has fallen.

    • Can be used to belay the leader or one or two following climbers; can be used for rappelling
    • Functions as a self-locking device when belaying off the anchor
    • Trimmed-down design shaves weight well below the previous versions
    • Deep V-notches add plenty of friction and increase control for long rappels
    • Secondary clip-in point to help in releasing a locked rope
    • Works on single ropes down to 8.9mm
    • Effective braking on half and twin ropes of 7.5mm or more
    • Item #PTZ0317

    My Go-To Multipitch Device

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Lightweight, quick to set up and intuitive to use, this has been my preferred multi-pitch device for years--especially when climbing as a threesome. The Guide Mode makes for a smooth top belay. Absolutely love it.

    My Go-To Multipitch Device

    HOT and READY

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Dropped my previous Reverso in Rock Canyon in Provo, UT so I decided to pick this one just to be safe. The violet color is a little bit lighter than the picture for those who love to color match. I also ordered Black Diamond’s ATC Guide device recently. You really can’t go wrong with either brand for these devices.

Great for Belaying up & Rappelling Down

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Classic ATC that can do it all. It can do everything from big wall climbs to, to short technical sport routes! Super light and always nice to have a backup device for if anything ever hits the fan!

    My Go-To

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this belay device for bigger mountain objectives and love it! It is lightweight, which you have to understand that it will wear a little faster than most devices, but totally worth it! At high use, I kept my first one for about 2 years before the want to replace it. To note, this was a bit conservative on my end, as it probably had a season or two left in it.

    Not quite as good

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I’ve used this and the BD ATC guide for several years now and definitely prefer the BD. The Reverso is a tiny bit lighter, but also not as strong. It handles skinny ropes better, so I use it with my 8mm doubles. I’m not a fan of how the Reverso hangs sideways in guide mode and prefer the BD when belaying that way.

    Back Up - ATC

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this primarily as a backup to bring for my friends who don't have a ATC with guide mode. I've been using the BD guide for a while now but the Reverso seems to be a better device given how stupid light it is.

    Great ATC!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have sport climbed with this ATC a few times now and also have the BD ATC guide as well. They both are very smooth and feed my 9.8 rope through it almost effortlessly. Great for belying or rappelling in or out doors, A must have!

    Go-to belay device

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Love this for the second loop on the other end. Between this and the Grivel Master Pro I'm set. Stoked

Great Choice for a Belay/Rappel Device

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My go to belay device when I also need to rappel. Looks great, and works even better. My main complaint is that it started to show signs of wear after about the first year of use (it still works great and I trust it with my life, but it's still worth noting).

    My first belay device

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my first belay device and I love it. It takes a couple of climbs to break it in, but after a few climbs it belays nice and smoothly. Definitely looking forward to climbing with it some more.

Does it work well with one mammut twilight 7.7 half rope in one slot? Note that I dont put 2 ropes in two slots in the classic double setup.

will it work with an 11 millimeter rope
