    Versatile style with warm wool.

The Pendleton Fitted Trail Shirt looks at home at campsites, restaurants, and around town, too. Virgin wool provides midweight warmth in a soft package, and Pendleton added Ultrasuede elbow patches for style as well as durability.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Great build quality it seems and the wool feels like it would be quite warm. I have an average to scrawny frame and I was just swimming in these. I got a Medium and my chest fit fine but the arms were too long. and not tapers at the waist at all either. I am convinced I got a lemon. I will try again when backcountry has inventory.

Worth the money; high quality; versatile

I bought this and the Lodge shirt as an experiment for autumn and winter hikes. Since they're the same weight and thickness I alternated shirts to test them.

I wore both on a three day trip at 8,000' and above. During the day I had a t-shirt underneath and only the Pendleton. They were great.

The weave is pretty tight and when it got windy at a 10,000' summit I buttoned this one up and it was good. When it got really windy, I threw on a light softshell, and the shirt was a great insulating layer.

At night it went down to 37 degrees. I was comfortable outside with the Lodge shirt, the softshell, and one of those lightweight synthetic jackets (like North Face Thermoball or Patagonia Nano Puff, but I have REI's version.)

The experiment was to see if old-fashioned wool is better than polyester fleece. It felt just as warm but I find it more versatile because it doesn't look too outdoorsy. It looks like any other shirt and I've even worn it on those rare cool nights at sea level in Southern California. It also makes a great shirt-jacket between 40 degrees and 60 degrees.

I'm 6 feet, 190 pounds and the Large in both shirts are exactly right in the sleeve length and the shoulders (after the first washing. It was a tiny bit long before washing. Follow their wash instructions.)

I expected it to be slimmer around the gut because it's fitted. It's not as slim as a fitted or tailored dress shirt, but it's still smaller than a non-fitted shirt. The Lodge shirt is not fitted so it was the usual billowing tent when I tucked it in my pants.

If you are extra muscular in the shoulders and biceps, like from weightlifting, you might have to size up.

This shirt is made really well. I was a little surprised by the fit. I expected the shirt to fit a little bit tighter (more slim fitting) than it actually does. The shirt seems tough and is made from relatively thick wool . I would highly recommend.
