When the thermometer's digits register in the 40s, the blend of materials in Pearl Izumi's Select Softshell Lite Gloves will keep your digits from registering the cold. Select Softshell Lite fabric on the back of the hand leads into the elements, blocking wind and water, while Select Thermal Lite on the palm takes advantage of that protection to insulate your hands' microclimate. Both materials are highly breathable, so they're warm but not stifling and won't trap clammy moisture against your skin.
The palms are strengthened with synthetic leather and supplemented with grip-enabling silicone details so you don't drop your bottles or slip off the hoods in the occasionally damp conditions of fall, spring, and early winter. Thermally conductive thumbs and forefingers keep your digits in touch with your digital devices, and a soft, wind-resistant wipe lets you clean your face without abrading your nose. Reflective elements help keep you visible in low-light conditions.

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This glove is fabulous! Touch tip index fingers allow access to smartphone pics with ease, while the soft microsuede thumb allows for a clean, non-abrasive wipe of the nose. I wouldn't push this glove past temps of 35 but clearly a game changer for me when I need a lightweight option to handle chilly morning starts. Silicone grip at the palms are a plus, gripping anything from your morning cup of JO, whether during your commute is defined by cycle or trekking pole. Soft shell const with a DWR finish sheds light moisture while remaining articulate no matter the activity. This glove is tough to beat and a minimal master!
Great Light Glove
Perfect for medium to high intensity activities in near and below freezing temperatures. Not a cozy glove for sitting around. Works well as a medium weight liner also
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
These gloves are great to break the wind and not sweat your hands when cranking out a long run! The softshell material definitely keeps the light rain out if you cannot stay inside on a cloudy day.
