The all-day choice.
Though they're less stiff than the Race Road model, Pearl Izumi's Select Road V5 Cycling Shoes are actually lighter. That's likely due to the latter's use of three hook-and-loop straps as an enclosure system, a minimalist, tried-and-true way to get a customized fit across the foot in cycling shoes. The sole is no slouch, either. It's a composite matrix reinforced with nylon, and it occupies the middle position in Pearl Izumi's stiffness scale, making it more forgiving over long miles spent in the saddle when comfort is more important than outright efficiency. The sole is finished with traction at the heel and toe to help you keep upright when those long days in the saddle are punctuated by refueling stops at convenience stores with slippery linoleum floors.
- Cycling shoes built for all day comfort and reliability
- Synthetic sole reinforced for stiffness that doesn't punish
- Seamless upper breathes and maintains a sleek, modern profile
- Closure reduces instep pressure by pulling around rather than across
- Bumpers maintain traction of slippery store or café floors

These are a great pair of road shoes! They are very comfortable and the stiffness is great, not too stiff, but not too soft! This was my first pair of road shoes just like Eduardo, and loving them so far! Would definitely recommend to anyone getting into cycling
Great for first road shoes.
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 11.5

These were great for my first road shoe. I needed something to train with and go on my first big ride event and these shoes did the job. The soles are sturdy and vented for comfort. The shoe is a little on the stiff side which is good for first time riders as it helped me understand the motion of the pedal and upstroke. I think a softer shoe my feet would have been extremely sore and fatigued. The velcro strap in is great but I would suggest you watch the back heel, it does rub a little after a long ride (30 miles) but whose shoes wouldn't. I am ready to upgrade and I think I'll stick with Izumi.
With a 2 bolt system is the cleat recessed?
