    Start your journey.

You've finally settled on your first road bike, and after weeks of debating carbon vs. aluminum, road vs. gravel, and choosing between countless extras, you're ready to just take your sleek new machine out on the roads already. Clipless pedals have you a little hesitant, as do the strange new padded shorts your friend just informed you you'll need to buy. The padded shorts may sound strange, but trust us — you'll need them. We'd recommend starting off with Pearl Izumi's Quest Splice Bib Short. Occupying a decidedly palatable price point, the Quest features a more forgiving fit than some of the top-tier race kit from Pearl Izumi, and has everything you'll need to get comfortable with your newfound hobby.

Pearl Izumi chose a classic eight-panel construction for the Quest Splice, equipping it to follow your body movements in the saddle without feeling restricting. Each of the panels is comprised of a supportive nylon and elastane blend, adept at wicking moisture away from your body continuously as you ride to keep you cool as you develop cadence and adjust to the mechanics of your bike. A classic mesh bib provides further support to your waist and upper body, smoothing the transition between short and jersey, while a Tour 3D chamois acts as a faithful barrier between you and the saddle. Multi-density foam cushioning provides relief and support to key areas, without feeling like an unyielding shelf as you pedal.

    • A capable entry-level bib short for road cycling
    • Supportive, moisture wicking fabric panels in a slim fit
    • Flexible mesh bib allows for airflow
    • Cushioned chamois absorbs impact
    • Reflective accents enhance visibility
    • Leg grippers gently hold leg hems in place

    Great Gift for a Cyclist!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I gave these as a gift to my dad who is a pretty active cyclist. He said that the fit was great and the bibs were comfortable for long rides. He has even recommended them to many of his cycling friends. Overall, a good purchase and a great gift!

    Excellent Bib Short

    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 154lbs

This bib short is very well constructed with amazing colors and also very comfortable to use. The medium size is perfect for my body measurements 32in waist, 39in chest and 37in Hips.
    I definitely recommend it.

    Best cycling purchase last summer.

    • Fit: True to size

I'm 6' tall, and a mostly sloppy 210 lbs. Generally wear a 38/32 and purchased an XL. These are the first bibs I've ever bought and I am more than pleased with their comfort. I ride 4-5 times per week, 20-25 miles per ride in 90-105 degree weather. Couldn't be happier with these jawns. Probably wouldn't buy shorts again unless I lose 25-30 lbs.

    Excellent cycling bibs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 195lbs

These are great entry-level bib shorts. I debated whether or not to get shorts or bibs, and I'm glad I went with these. The bib eliminates the dreaded "short roll" at the waist, and since I have a pit of a pudge, that's a big deal. In addition the bibs do a good job of keeping the chamois in place, which, by the way, is also very good for an entry level bib. Overall, well worth the purchase.
