PRO Pursuit Thermal Cycling Bib Tight

Staying warm and dry are two things that lead to happy cycling when the mercury drops. Pearl Izumi's Men's PRO Pursuit Cycling Bib Tights are designed to do both by placing different materials where needed to achieve those goals and keep you, the cyclist pleased. PRO level, 3-layer softshell panels protect key splash zones on the legs and block wind while thermal panels with water-shedding PI Dry technology simultaneously offer ventilation, breathability, mobility, and weather protection and are used on the back of the legs and bib uppers. PRO Pursuit 1:1 Chamois feature multi-density foams for targeted support and maximum breathability providing a solid foundation for churning the pedals and accumulating the winter base miles. Raw edges on the bib straps make for comfortable layering, while zipperless soft elastic cuffs hold the ankles securely in place and work well with thicker winter socks and shoe covers. Pearl Izumi recommends these bib tights in conditions ranging from 28- to 43-degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Winter bibtights for staying dry and warm
  • Softshell in key areas offer protection and mobility
  • Thermal fabric offers excellent insulation
  • PRO Pursuit 1:1 chamois offers extreme comfort
  • Soft elastic cuffs keep elements out and heat in

I am 5'-10" tall with 32-33" waist and ordered Medium size. I have several other Pearl Izumi bibs and bib shorts (including PRO) that are Medium and fit me fine. These bibs did not fit and were too small around my mid section and crotch. My measurements fall well within the size chart info provided for this product. Pearl used to be my "go to" for bibs, now I would hesitate to order this brand on line.

The temp rating is a little generous. Anything below 45 degrees is quite miserable for me at the beginning of a ride. It was 38 degrees when i loaded up the bike into my truck. I stopped to get gas and started shivering. If it is below 45 degrees, i will reach for the Amfib tights instead. The chamois is a little stiff when new, but feels like butter after a few 100 miles.

Great fit, warm

I gave these to my dad for fall/winter riding on the east coast. If it's truly frigid, he doesn't go out and goes skiing instead, so these are great for him as a warm layer on the chilly days that aren't extra wet or windy. He says they fit true to size and are comfortable. His only con is that he wishes they had stirrups on the bottom to keep them in place.

This bib is well made and keeps me warm from this New York winter so I can ride all year round. 6, 194lbs fits just how I like it...

I concur with the review that says, "No wind spopper in the chamois area". Love the fit and finish on these. However, while my legs are comfy in the 35 to 45 degree range, my groin is freezing after about an hour--or when it is colder (35 ish). I have a previous years addition of these where the softshell panel covers the lower abdomin/groin area and they are fantastic. Bummer they changed the design.

36" waist While the legs are effectively windproof, the chamois area is not. For riding in relatively still air, I was surprised to not have any issues riding down to about 40 degrees. Most of my riding in these tights has taken place in the 40-45 degree band. Below that point, some extra insulation is needed in the front of the chamois. If the wind is howling, I find that the insulation is needed at a slightly higher temperature. Anything above 45 would be a bit too warm for me in these tights especially if the sun were out. I have used these in the mid 30s but that was getting a bit chilly in these though the areas with wind protection were fine. I will say that when I start to get cold riding down in the drops does limit the exposure. The tights are form fitting and seem well made. The chamois is comfortable but given the lack of wind proofing does kind of limit the functionality. For reference, I use these in colder conditions than the Castelli Sorpasso wind tight. I definitely would not be using these in the sub 35 degree range. The tights are also minimalistic with regards to reflective patterns or such. I have not been caught out in wet with these so I cannot speak to the water resistance. Finally, the length is pretty good for my height (at least consistent with other brands).
