PRO Escape Thermal Bib Short

Not too long ago we wouldn't have that of a situation where we would need a thermal bib short, but after studying the riders in the spring classics, we discovered that a key piece of pro kit was indeed thermal bib shorts. Pearl Izumi's Men's PRO Escape Thermal Bib Shorts are perfect for long rides on cool days around 50- to 65-degrees Fahrenheit and if you happen to ride into wet weather conditions, the Thermal Fleece fabric with water-shedding PI Dry technology prevent the shorts from taking on water and keep you comfortable. You can also pair them with thermal knee or leg warmers or go full Euro-Pro and slather on embrocation for the ultimate versatility in cool weather. Keeping the upper comfortable and allowing the use of various baselayers to regulate temps in the PRO Transfer fabric. Raw edge construction on the bib straps and leg openings offer just the right amount of compression without restricting movement or digging into our skin. Since these bibs will likely accompany us on our long base mile rides, we are thankful that Pearl specs their highest-end PRO Escape 1:1 chamois and we find the floating top sheet design offers excellent comfort. Reflective elements on the sides and back help with visibility at night, in tunnels, and in the rain.

  • Thermal Fleece fabric bib short for all-conditions
  • PRO Transfer Fabric on bib insulates and wicks moisture
  • Raw edges on leg opening and bib upper lay flat

Short inseam.

Nice and warm in cooler temps. Only caveat is they are a little short in the inseam. Otherwise, the large fit is the same and other Pearl products I've used in past only shorter.

Great shorts

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
True to size

I bought these last week and took them out for a ride that started inthe low 40s F. With knee warmers they were perfect, a big step up from regular bibs and warmers. Chamois a little thicker than I'm used to, but the thermal lining was great. I'm going to grab another pair. Fits true to size. Great product, and you're not committed to knickers when it warms up.

Permanently waterproofs the fibers that will always shake dry while maintaining the breathability of fleece.

Good bib for cool weather

I've used it several times

This bib keeps me warm on cool days that don't warrant full length, wind resistant tights. Although it has no wind blocking membrane, this bib provides a good amount of wind protection while remaining breathable. The chamois is thick and generally comfy for long rides. However the edge of the chamois seems to hit me in the wrong place and chafes after a while. I have only had the bib a couple weeks. Maybe it will break in.
