P.R.O. Pursuit Long-Sleeve Wind Jersey

Cycling clothing has come a long way. Not too long ago, if you were going riding in cool or drizzly conditions, it usually meant wearing a non-breathable plastic jacket that would pretty much instantly become a hot, humid mess leaving you almost as wet as if you left the jacket at home. Several companies have released jerseys with wind and water-resistant fabrics that prevent you from having to put on or take off layers as well as reducing bulk. The P.R.O. Pursuit Long-Sleeve Wind Jersey from Pearl Izumi is one such jersey and we make sure it gets plenty of use during the spring and fall.

This jersey features panels of Pearl Izumi's Softshell Lite fabric, which provides soft, stretchy weather protection without hindering your freedom of movement. The main body is made from Pearl Izumi's P.R.O. Transfer fabric for lightweight moisture management that wicks moisture so you stay drier no matter how hard the ride gets.

The P.R.O. Pursuit Long-Sleeve Wind Jersey sports three rear pockets, ideal for carrying spare tubes, ride snacks, and your phone. The prerequisite full-length zipper provides ample ventilation options when the road turns up makes it easy to get into and out of the jersey while reflective elements increase visibility to other road users in low light conditions.

  • A breathable, element-blocking jersey
  • Soft, stretchy fabrics are form-fitting and resist wind and water
  • Three rear pockets provide ample storage for ride essentials
  • BioViz reflective elements increase visibility to others

I'm 6', 180lbs - the large fit me well. Pros: - Well made, nice tailored fit. Cons: - Sleeves do not breath at all, so you will end up with sweat pooling around your wrists and dripping onto your handlebars. - Sleeves are also not insulated at all, so unless you wear a long-sleeved base layer, your arms will be chilly. Overall, the piece functions more like a race-fit windbreaker than a jersey. It's probably best paired with a thermal base layer for riding in cold temperatures (30-40 degrees). I wore it with a light base layer on a ride recently that started at 40 degrees and finished at 60. I was chilly at the start because of the lack of insulation, but once the temperature crossed 50 sweat started pooling in the jersey because the front and sleeves do not breath at all.
