Pearl Izumi Gloves

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
Runs small

I’ve owned many pairs of Pearl Izumi gloves over the years and they generally are well made gloves (I keep buying them). But one thing that is way off is the sizing. I’m 5’ 7” and 160lbs and almost everything I buy for clothes is a Medium, including gloves...unless they’re Pearl Izumi, they have to be XL. What’s up with that? My wife had the same experience as me when she bought her Pearl Izumi gloves, that is return the mediums and buy XLs.

I own 3 pair. These are more minimal in the padding (love that), vent very well, are light. Bought one pair, found a great sale and bought 2 more as backup. On the first pair the webbing on one of the gel pads appeared to run. I thought it was a goner. That was 9 months ago. I have continued using it, hand washing and air drying each ride, rotating it with some other gloves. The pair is used roughly 3 x per week. Best fit of the lot (Castelli, other PI styles, Giro): not too tight, easy on and off, very light -- as if not there. Pad location works for me and my hand nerves -- no numbing as with some other gloves with different pad placement. I did not think they would last but they are holding up very well. Have not even opened one of the pair purchased as these keep holding up.

These have been great for long rides and don't create harsh pressure points.

I have these in the mostly white version. I've worn them several times prior to writing this review and so far they have held up well. They fit well, the velcro clasps hold nicely and I like the fit compared to other gloves I've tried in the same size from different manufacturers. The gel padding is not as robust as on other gloves, but I found that a pro as opposed to a con.

Comfortable gloves, not the best quality

Bought these gloves on recommendation for the AZ heat and summer riding. They are cool and comfortable for sure and the new removal tabs are good. Some of the palm side stitching and pad "seal" are coming apart already, as they cant seem to hold up from the AZ sweat and some very gentle laundering. Good gloves, shorter lifespan than expected for Pearl... Will be starting the warranty process i guess..

Mine have the same problem. Not particular happy as it's been less than six months.

They are perfect. No strings coming apart and very cool, also fits well and are comfortable. Very well made and my hands don't get Hot nor Numb. I'll probably get two more pairs, they don't seem to undo their stitching, which I always encounter on other gloves. I just hand washed them and they retained their form perfect, no stretching anywhere while hang dried. Well made!

Fragile Palms

Good fit, nice looking. The removal hooks would be more effective on the top vs. bottom. Nice to see brand name/logo in only three places (lest you forget Pearl Izumi is on your hands). Don't like to crash but when I do I'd rather have gloves that can take a bit of a bash. Should've anticipated the mesh would tear and the gel pop out. Nice concept but seeing that bright yellow gel on the ground after the incident put me right off. In my experience, you just can't beat leather.

Nice concept if you don't CRASH.....lol.....it's your Helmet that's supposed to be crash Proof, NOT your summer gloves.

I had the same problem without a crash. they were very comfortable so I bought a second pair. I wound up with one pair and a spare right hand glove. l'm retired so I ride everyday in north Florida, I need something cool and durable. l'm still looking so any suggestion would be helpful. right now l'm wearing Mavic Pros and so far so good

Palm stitching unraveled....

Stitching in the palm gel area came apart after 3 rides and the gel pad fell out. I expect more from Pearl Izumi products. Not recommended.

Great So Far

I haven't used them a ton yet so hard to say if they will last as per others, they do not. But so far they have been good, grip and vent well. Will report back if they start falling apart.

Looks great!

I love the gel air vents on these. They're easy to put on and not too difficult to remove. I have used it just one time and for my first ride it felt great! Very comfortable fit and nice looking as well.

I loved the way these gloves felt when I purchased them. After two weeks of riding, sink washing and air drying, the started coming apart. The stitching on the palm gel pad came completely unravelled. To make matter worse this happened in the middle of a very hard ride ( The Death Ride). There is a enough to think about on that day to not have to worry about your gloves coming apart. I will not but Pearl Izumi gloves ever again.

They? Buy? Help us out here.

I have been wearing PI gloves for a number of years now. I last wore the PRO Pittards and was bummed when they discontinued them and have been waiting (impatiently) for them to come out with something comparable. These gloves fit the bill so far, they are very comfortable and light, and the Gel Vent padding breathes very well during a long ride and is very comfortable without making your palms go numb. I have always worn a Medium Size glove, and I went with the same for these without any problems.

Same here, best summer gloves so far. Fit well and No numbness.

these gloves are super nice to wear, whether you are doing a century ride or just a cruise around town. a lot of padding in the right places! lots of air vents to keep your hands from overheating. so if you need a great pair of gloves to wear while riding grab a pair!
