Journey Short

Sometimes it's hard to plan ahead for an adventurous day. There could be hiking, a beach side run, or a spontaneous bike ride in the Santa Cruz mountains, and wardrobe changes mid day are less than ideal, so deck yourself out in the Pearl Izumi Journey Short for Women. These versatile shorts take inspiration from runners, with lightweight construction, and an inseam that's shorter than traditional MTB shorts, but don't shy on tech, with a tough polyester construction that can holds up to hours on the trail, and a supportive chamois to cushion your sit bones.

The Journey shorts lock into place on your waist thanks to a stretchy elastic waist band, with a snap-closure internal adjuster to secure the fit in place. On the back of the waistband, you'll also find a pocket for stashing your ID and cards, keeping you ready for any adventure to follow, be it beach-side brewery or driving down the coast to the next town.

For support in the saddle, the Journey comes equipped with a detachable liner with Pearl Izumi's Women MTB 3D Chamois. This chamois uses a smooth and soft polyester that offers just enough stretch, and is embeded with carbon particles that claim to improve evaporation, fight odor, and disperse moisture. The MTB 3D chamois is pre-shaped with multi-density foam, and cutouts in target areas that reduce pressure for better circulation, and more comfort on the bike.

  • Polyester outer short stands up to trails with strength
  • Breathable material keeps you cool on the ride
  • Adjustable waist with stash pocket for ID and keys
  • Women's MTB 3D chamois gives your sit bones relief on long rides

I am 5'6", 135lbs. Bought a size 4. I love these shorts! They have a great waistband and the chamois keeps your bum comfortable on long rides. I do wish they had a small pocket for a car key.

No significant elastic waistband so it's absolutely huge on my waist, though it fits in thighs/hips. Will have to return!

Finally shorts that fit

I’m 5’5, 120 lbs and I ordered the size 4. (It’s frustrating when people don’t provide this info upfront). Usually the waist is too tight on any bike short I buy & I have to size up which makes them baggy. But these are not tight at all! Plenty of cushion. Look good. Also grateful for numbered sizes. I just wish there was some sort of useful pocket. (Hey industry, why never any pockets in women’s clothes? But thanks for not making them pink). I will order another pair.

Thanks for providing size info upfront! That's exactly what I'm looking for in reviews - comparable sizes for fit information, before all the other details.

great relief

These are very well padded to provide maximum relief on long rides. The lining is comfortable and didn't bunch at all. They also wicked sweat nicely.

Favorite Bike Shorts

I like these bike shorts more than others I've purchased in the past, they aren't as long, they aren't as stiff, and the built in padding is nice. The waist band is not very stretchy but once they are over your hips (if you're built like me) you're good to go.

Great Fit!

These are a great fit! I love the fact that they come in number sizes vs. small, medium etc. I ordered my usual size 4 and they fit great. A nice pair of biking shorts for any style of rider.

Comfy!

Great bike shorts with an incorporated chamois. Slightly fitted and are about a mid-thigh length. I prefer that over the super long bike shorts. It can be a bit annoying that you can't separate the chamois from the shorts themselves but really not that big of deal. the chamois is really comfortable the material has held up great!
