    Cool Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these for my wife and she likes them a lot. They keep her cool on summer rides around town. They also work well at the gym when you take out the chamois.

Cool is more important than cool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are a bit shorter than is really the style in mountain biking currently, but I'll take the comfort and airflow over style any day. I like the shorter fit, minus the tan line I get when I wear knee pads with them. The chamois is more brief-style than I'm used to, but after a couple of rides getting used to it I've found I like having that much less material making me overheat while I ride. The only thing I really could wish for on these—pockets!

    Some of my favorite shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love these!! As bike shorts but also just as regular shorts with the chamois taken out. I can bike to work wearing these, remove the chamois and work out in the shorts, and only have to pack 1 pair of bottoms.
The chamois started a bit tight but is loosening up a little bit the more I wear them. The shorts fit perfectly. I don't think I could have gone up in a size if i wanted the shorts to fit on their own (I'm 5'6", 125 pounds, ordered a small). If you sometimes go between sizes, I'd size up.

    Great Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought for my wife and she said: Love these shorts! The padded insert is detachable, which is allows me use them in other shorts that are not padded. I love that the length of these shorts is long enough to protect my legs from the seat, but short enough that I don't get mistaken for a sir.

    Versatile and Comfortable Sun Protection

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These have quickly become one of my favorite shorts -- for more than just biking! The removable liner is a very convenient and I love that Pearl Izumi gave these shorts that option.

I originally purchased these as a short for biking, but have found that they can be used for any activity when the liner is removed. They have a very relaxed fit, so you can wear them for yoga, running, or even rock climbing! I wore these on a long drive to Fruita, Colorado for a biking trip (without the chamois liner) and I never once felt the waist bunch up or pinch me.

The material is very soft and cool to the touch as well, with a UPF rating of 50+ so you get comfort and sun protection!

I love the way these look, fit, and feel!

Good quality, poor fit for me.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'2"
    • Weight: 115lbs

I really liked the overall construction and quality of the shorts. But the fit seemed a bit off. I ordered an XS, and the shorts themselves fit perfectly, but the chamois sharply dug into my crotch area and left bruises. If I went bigger, the chamois might fit but the shorts would fall off my waist.

    Pearl Izumi Journey Short

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'2"

I really struggle with women's mountain biking apparel because it's unflattering and the fit is inconsistent. I was pleased when I got these shorts and they're one of the best I've found for my shorter 5'2" frame. Most mountain biking shorts are so long they hit you in a weird spot when you're vertically challenged so the 6" inseam on these shorts is perfect. If you're looking for more protection these are probably too short but if you're going for a low key ride than these are perfect. I like the construction of the waistband with the elastic bands and snap closure b/c it moves with you and remains comfortable. I actually sized up to a Medium even though I usually wear a Small to give myself more room in the hips.

    Versatile and Multifunctional

    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I bought these for my girlfriend, and she wears these all the time. She says the liner and chamois are thin and work for shorter mountain bike rides but the shorts are stretchy and allow for excellent movement. She'll even sport these running and just as casual wear.

    Great Fit and Feel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I was nervous because there were no reviews when I ordered these. Sometimes bike shorts, especially with liners, run really small. I ordered the Medium and they fit PERFECTLY. The liner is nice and the shorts look great. I'm very happy with my purchase.
