ELITE Barrier Vest
Small enough to fit in your saddle pack and light enough that you'll forget it's there, the Pearl Izumi Women's ELITE Barrier Vest is the layer that will make the difference between a suffer-fest and a fun ride. While a downpour will render it ineffective, it will resist light precipitation and prevent wind from stealing your core warmth. It's constructed with ELITE Barrier fabric, which stands up to the elements without turning your torso into a portable sauna. Direct-Vent panels use mesh to further enhance ventilation, ensuring that as you sweat the vapor has an escape route. A slim silhouette serves two purposes——it keeps the fabric out of your way while you pedal your way to a new PR, and it has a flattering look when you roll up to the local cafe for a post-ride latte. A drawcord at the waist adjusts with a single hand, so there's no need to stop riding to protect yourself from gusts as the wind starts to pick up.

Best Fit and Feel of the 5 Vests I Tried
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I haven't gotten to wear this outside to truly test it out, but the construction and fit feel solid. I recognize that it's gotta be hard to design a vest to fit so many different female body shapes, especially when they are meant for rain and therefore minimal-to-no stretch in the material. But the other ones had really small armholes - too small for me to feel comfortable in, and they flattened my chest uncomfortably (but a larger size would have been too large in the waist).
The mesh in the back seems great, and I appreciate the zippered pocket, hopefully that also keeps things dry!
