Black PI Bib Short

After investing years into research and development to perfect their patented bonded-seam construction, Pearl Izumi's dedication has paid off to bring you an entirely new definition of next-to-skin comfort in the Black PI Bib Shorts.

This fully bonded construction eliminates bulk and chafing, and pairs with the groundbreaking Italian PRO Transfer fabric to follow your every movement in breathable, moisture-wicking comfort as you sweat it out on all-day rides. Then, Pearl's proprietary PI Dry technology brings permanent water-shedding performance to your kit to defend against road spray or summer showers, all without sacrificing breathability. A meticulously integrated Pro Escape 1:1 Chamois employs a floating topsheet design to smooth out harsh vibrations and impact from the road, and wide, sonic-cut bib straps distribute pressure evenly across your shoulder with support and a barely-there feel.

  • The new wave of bib technology is here, and it is comfy
  • Stretchy fabric wicks sweat, moves with you, and stays light
  • Bonded construction eliminates chafing and bulk
  • PI Dry sheds light precipitation on the road
  • Shock-absorbing chamois smoothes out painful impacts
  • Silicone grippers lock down the fit
  • Reflective elements add visibility in low light

Amazing!

I absolutely love the materials and fit of these shorts! If you are coming from another pair of Pearl shorts you will notice these have a more compressive fit, and they are designed better for the riding position, so when you are standing up straight they are not quite as comfortable as when you are in riding position, this makes for a much better fitting short in my opinion. The legs are a little longer than your old shorts, but more in keeping with modern fit from most brands. The material is so very comfortable and the chamois is just the right amount of thickness and support for long days in the saddle. The bib straps are actually a little closer together down the front which threw me off at first but I really quite like it. Buy these if you are looking for a top shelf bib short that make you feel like royalty, but beware, you probably won't want to wear your old shorts again.

Best bibs I’ve had

This is the best chamois I’ve ever had! I have another big brand pair and they make my sit bones sore after an hour of riding. Road with the PI blacks on a century today with a tender backside due to riding yesterday with the other pair. I was worried that I’d be hating life after the first 25miles. After 5 hrs in the saddle my sit bones were better than when I started! Like I said best chamois I’ve ever had. The fit is tight but that makes em aero. The fabric sheds water like a fresh coat of rain x has been applied and the are cool and comfy. My only issue was the bib straps do roll up when you’re putting them on but it’s easy to fix. They’re pricy but that’s cycling. Can’t go wrong with these.

follow up on these bibs. not durable at all. i@have two pair and both have developed holes where the chamios is stitched to the short.

Go fast, feel great

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

No pinching, no binding, no bunching. This is the closest I've come to the proverbial second skin. It uses a mesh material where you want to breathe and an aero material elsewhere. This gives a great balance of comfort and speed. The leg is a bit longer than normal, which reduces drag on the lower leg. The gripper is minimal and the laser cut opening is almost unnoticeable. I have skinny legs for my height, they may be more snug if your thighs are larger. I like the feeling of compression, but it takes some getting used to if you are new to cycling. The chamois is second to none, both in terms of comfort and durability. The floating top layer of the chamois means it can move across the rest of the chamois instead of dragging across your underside. You can ride all day long in these! You're going to feel like a pro in these bibs.

I've got 4 pairs of these and have put several thousand miles on them in the last year. No complaints. They fit better around my quads and the leg opening than my Pearl Izumi Elite Pursuit bibs, and the lack of any stitching is an amazing feeling. No issue with quality or durability so far. The Elite Pursuit bibs were giving me saddle sores after long indoor training rides, the PI Black bibs have proven to be much more comfortable for indoor training. Outdoors, both are comfy and don't give me sores. I could have fit a Medium, but I went with a large because I don't like feeling like the bibs are making me hunch over. In the crotch area, a medium would have been good, but the legs and straps of the Large fit better for me.

I liked the fabric on these bibs, but leg length was just too long. Right near the knee. I have long femurs too. Other parts of the bib fit well.
