Peak Design Medium CubeV1-Good,but could be better

I have been using the V1 Medium and Small Cubes with my 45L Travel Backpack for a few years now. The whole line of Tavel Backpack and the Cubes have been well designed and well thought Pros: Well made protection for the camera. The Medium and the Small fit well together to take up 100% of the 45L Travel Backpack. For the Medium Cube, the slide zip openings are very useful and work well with the side openings on the Backpack itself. The dividers are super flexible and very useful. See the attached picture for how I have set it up to carry one full-frame DSLR with 24-70, another crop-DSLR with 70-200 and the 135mm sitting on the side. For this arrangement, I have not used the small cube. Sometimes, I just like to use the Medium and leave the top space of the Backpack free for Flashes, Books, etc. Cons: There are few main cons for me here - 1. The side zip openings could have been more edge-to-edge where the flap completely opens. See the attached picture where you can see the cube material blocking the area where you pull out the camera. I hope PD has fixed this with the V2 Cubes. 2. Also, the cube to backpack side attachment loops need to be more out of the way of the cube side flaps. They are currently sitting on the flap itself, thereby hindering the operability of the flap. Look at the attached picture. 3. It would be nice to be able to completely take the flaps off by providing an all-around zipper. So, if we do not want the flap in the way (to reduce weight as well), we can completely take it off! For me, the greatest con is this - I cannot easily pull and restore back my camera out of the backpack’s side panel access point. It takes a bit of finagling and forcing to make it work. If the openings on the medium cube were just as wide as the cube itself, this would be resolved! Hope this is resolved with the Cube V2!

Great for what they are

I've been using the small camera cube with the travel backpack for over 50 trips of 1-3 nights, sometimes also as my daily carry. The small one is a great compromise, as it works also as a separate camera bag when you need it to, while also giving you side access when in the travel backpack. My only niggle is with the concept; it is so sturdy, that it can be used separately, while the travel backpack is also sturdy enough to protect a camera. Thus, the system as a whole becomes quite bulky and heavy.

Versatile and Convenient

I've been using a small and a medium for a month and it has simplified my air travel packing. I should have got these years ago.

Excellent quality

I purchased the medium v1 camera cube to keep my lenses organized on long trips. The first thing I noticed about it is the superb quality - it feels like the type of product that will outlive me. The other thing I like about it is the potential for customization. Removable dividers make storing lenses, camera bodies, and accessories of all sizes easy.

Slightly strange proportioned

Got the S and was hoping to replace a a Think Tank bag but ended up keeping the TT bag as was und am using the Cube S as a storage pack. I didn't think it though. you have to purchase an additional Strap, probably Slide, so $$ and 'only' have one large open pouch + dividers. No pockets inside or out. probably should have got a V2 S or XS not living in the US it wasn't worth the return costs. other than that, quality of course amazing and well thought through product. full disclosure, total fanboy, have several other PD bags and products, just had buyers impulse get the better of me and my judgment.

Carry on weight Luggage restrictions no more.

I needed a bag that was light I could transport my camera around to locations arounds Australia. We have a carry on restriction of 7 kgs. Most camera bags weigh in at around 2 kgs and limits what you can carry on the plane. With the camera cube medium, I carry a nikon z9,50mm,35mm,20mm,70-200mm and my Microsoft Surface pro 8 in the one bag. I use this with a Peak slide strap attached to the bag. Because of the size of the bag the flight weight police dont even weigh my bag when they do there inspection (Jetstar normally). Then when I arrive at my destination I put the cube back in my 45l travel backback that was stored in my check in luggage

Camera Cube V1 large

Very happy with the large size. I am able to transport pretty much whatever I need and typically will have some extra room that I can pack other things like clothes in. Day to day, this is too big, but for when I need to bring a lot of gear it gets the job done great! It also comes with a lot of organizing panels

perfect for I wanted

I bought this early this month and it has done exactly what I needed it to do. My camera and all accessories are safely and neatly stored in it. It has lot of room for everything.

Great and cheaper alternative to the V2 Cubes

The cubes are a great way to turn (almost) any bag into a photo bag. (Only problem might be the height as the cube is rather high - which brings my bag close to its limits.) I also use them as storage at home as it is easy to grab either only the camera from the quick access or simply the entire cube with all the stuff inside. If you have the money the improvements with the newer version seem great - but for me the bang for buck is better with this one.
