Wind Shield Pant

Patagonia built the lightweight and breathable Women's Wind Shield Pants for trail running, climbing, hiking, and other high-aerobic activities. A DWR finish on the stretch softshell provides protection from wind and water, so there's no need to be scared of a little rain. An external drawcord provides a customized fit for ultimate comfort while you're tearing up the trail.

Breathable Capilene Thermal Weight fabric panels on the side and back allow excess heat and moisture to escape, while the Polygiene treatment keeps nasty odors from accumulating. Reflective icons behind the knees and a reflective hip logo deliver visible safety for those early-morning or late-evening runs, and a zippered back pocket with key clip keeps your essentials secure.

I have a more athletic build (thick thighs) and I LOVE these pants! They don't immediately get soaked in rain/mud, they are warm because of the wind proof thickness, and I have fit a base layer underneath. I'm back for another pair.

Great fit, great look. Very stylish. Very comfortable, non-restricting. Love the side zippered pockets. Length seems to work well (with snap and zipper closures at ankle) even though I am petite size. I bought 5 pairs of these pants, in case you were wondering how much I love them. I can’t think of anything I would change. Patagonia thought of everything to make this perfect for active wear.

Loved the material, did not care for the fit. Felt good everywhere except the thighs. Not super tight, but tight enough to bug me. Definitely weren't going to work with a base layer. I'm 5'6" and 135, for reference.

This is exactly the pant I've been looking for for cool to cold-weather running as well as warmer cross country skiing days. There's just enough windbreak and insulation on the front and the bum to keep the wind from chilling the legs and rear end. They have just the right amount of flex too. I'm 5'4" and 120 pounds . The small fits perfectly.

I think I found the perfect hiking pant for winter, and colder days!! They are warm and do a great job of keeping wind from getting your legs cold. They have thermal on the inside to keep you warm, but I would still wear a base layer under them. They keep the wind and water out beautifully. You need them if you do a lot of activities outside! They fit me true to size and aren't too snug so a base layer can fit under them. They were a tad long, but they are fine with a boot on. I am in LOVE with them and will wear them on all my adventures! I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great pant to wear in colder conditions.

Waterproof, Wind Resistant, Warm

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these as a gift for a friend that is hiking Kilimanjaro and she has not stopped raving about them. She said they are truly waterproof and warm, and they've kept her dry on every hike she's gone on so far while being flexible in any condition. The fabric has made it easy to hike and bike in them, and they've become her go-to for all of her outdoor runs.

Waiting for these for years

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've been waiting for a pair of pants like these for forever. There are various softshell type pants out there for women but they're almost universally unflattering, and all so high waisted and stiff that being uncomfortable wasn't worth the technical function. Meanwhile, my guy has softshell pants that are so comfortable he wears them in place of jeans and even sweatpants. Ugh. So, when I saw these I had to give them a try. They're expensive, but I have to admit that Patagonia stands the test of time, so I guess I can get over that. They're comfortable, lightweight, and they actually look nice. My two complaints about them are relatively small, and probably not a big deal to most. First, the waistband isn't as much like yoga pants as I wanted it to be. The very top part has that rigid, less stretchy part in it that doesn't match the comfort of the rest of the band. All you ladies know what I'm talking about. If it had the same fold over top as the light and lined pants, I'd be over the damn moon. Second, the side panels on the legs, although allowing for comfortable stretch to suit a wider range of body types, isn't water resistant. It's a regular yoga pant/athletic tight type fabric. That helps make them breathable, but means they're not quite as weatherproof as the description may lead you to believe. Bottom line - these are going to be great for xc skiing in the cold. I'll be comfortable and not look like I'm wearing giant old school ski pants. So. These stay, and I'll keep my eyes open for Patagonia to update these a few years from now. For reference, I'm 5'1" 110lb. and the XS fits great. I could still put a baselayer pant underneath comfortably. Sizing up seems unnecessary for adding layers underneath.

Everything I hoped for.

I've been pining for these pants since last year, and with the temperatures starting to cool down, I figured now was an opportune time to pick up a pair. I haven't gotten a chance to test these out, though I can speak to the fit. I typically wear an XS in all Patagonia items, occasionally purchasing a small when I'm looking to have some extra room, however I went with an XS in these as I wanted a more streamline running pant and it fits great! It's slim throughout the leg, though I do have a little extra room for layering should I need it. The bottom hem sort of billows out a little and there are zippers, but the fit is still slim to my ankle and I don't foresee it getting in the way. I'm 5'3" and the length in the extra small is flush with my running sneakers, yet isn't "too flush" in the sense that the fabric gets stuck in the heel cup as I run. The waist band is wide, soft, and adjustable - hands down one of the most comfortable waist bands I have ever experienced. There is a gusseted crotch for unimpeded mobility, and the fabric is pliable and seems to be breathable yet protective. For fit reference, I wear an XS in all Patagonia items, Toad&Co, Prana, Black Diamond, and wear a Small in Arc'teryx.

Solid cold weather layer

My wife bought these pants. Here's her review. These pants do exactly what they're supposed to: keep the wind out. They're not insulated at all besides the capilene panels, but I've found that makes them extremely versatile. I've worn them trail running in weather anywhere from 40 degrees to 12 degrees and they're bomber. When it's really cold I just throw a pair of tights underneath. Size S fits true, I'm 5'4" 120lbs. Not too long either!
