Fish can swim, but they can't hide.

Fishing a new river requires covering a lot of water before finding the action, which is why Patagonia designed the Men's Ultralight Wading Boot. The synthetic leather and Venergy mesh uppers are lightweight and fast draining, which allows your feet to feel light and nimble when you move upstream or head up stream in search of your new honey hole. Plus, the Rock Grip soles are made from a special sticky rubber compound for stable and secure traction on slick river bottoms, and they are designed to accept studs when you need an extra bit of bite, or fin straps when you're taking the float tube out on the lake. The boots can also be resoled for season after season of riparian adventures.

    Ladies, consider these!

This is a review of last years model of this boot. As a petite woman that also loves fishing, I know too well the struggle of trying to find gear that works and that isn't 2x the price of mens gear or in some nauseating shade of pink. These are pricey now as the newest model - I paid $80 for last years version. But, I still think these are well worth a look by all the flyfishing women out there.

I've been looking for an upgrade from my disastrous old felts, but women's specific boots are insanely expensive. On the verge of breaking down and dropping close to $200 on the Simms wading boots, I discovered these and thought that maybe a size 5 would fit me - being between a 6-7 in a womens street shoe. These fit perfectly with a good pair of socks and my waders on! They're so light, give excellent ankle support, and will take studs. Some of the reviews say that they're not very sticky - to that, I say, anything on the planet is stickier than the ridiculous high heeled felts I started out with, and for $80, I can't wait to take them out on the river.

For reference for women's sizing, I am 5"1 and 110lbs. I wear a 6-7 depending on shoe type and/or brand, and a 36-37 European size. I ordered these in the size 5 and they're perfect! They're synthetic and really comfy inside, so I suspect that they will stretch as I break them in.

      A Great Piece of Gear

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these to compliment my Patagonia waders I got on a steal. I contacted Patagonia to ensure I would get the correct size. They fit great, feel good, and drain fairly well. Hopefully they'll last me a while, Patagonia has a pretty good reputation.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These were a gift to a friend who definitely represents the fly fishing world. Here is what he had to say...

"These boots are a godsend not only are they light weight but I'm going from a felt bottom to these rubber and I'm getting a lot better grip. These are great easy laces to tighten, comfy and have great support for rocky terrain. Very happy with the Patagonia Ultralights."

      Just what I was after

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Comfortable, lightweight boots, upgraded durability from the previous model. They offer reasonable traction, but I threw some studs on just to be safe. The only real issue I’ve had are the laces are a tad short to tie them snugly and there’s not exactly stellar drainage. Even still, I highly recommend these.
