Lives up to its name.
The Women's Ultralight Down Vest is Patagonia's lightest vest and is more than suitable for any alpine endeavor. Pertex Quantum is half of the weight and twice the strength of most nylon shells, and it protects the lofty warmth inside with reliable water-resistance and complete windproofing. Patagonia's 800-fill down insulation comes from birds that were never force-fed or live-plucked, and it has a higher loft than most vests insulated with down. The Ultralight Down Vest stows inside one of its hand pockets for compact storage in your backpack.

Love the Ultralight Down Vest so much! When I first got this I wore it every day for a week. It has a really sleek, simple look and doesn't make me look like a Michelin woman. I can wear it with jeans, as an insulator under my ski shell, and on really blustery days on the skin track.
I've gotten this vest wet a few times, and it hasn't lost any loft. As is true with down, it dries really fast.
I am 5'7," 126 LBS, and got a size small. I can still a few layers underneath and not feel constricted.

The vest I've been looking for

So often women's down vests make anyone over a size 6 look like a giant marshmallow, so I'm a big fan of vests that are "ultralight" and offer the warmth without the fluff. I'm a relatively true size 12 (5'6/5'7, 36D) and ordered both the large and XL to see what size I wanted. Ultimately I'm keeping the XL because it's the right size in the hips and gives me a little bit more room to wear something other than a light shirt, but still does not look sloppy. While the large offered me a more defined waist, it was tight across the hips and ultimately made me look like I was stuffed into it if I tried to wear a medium weight sweater with it.
The feather grey does allow some of the darker colored feathers to show through, but there are so few that show it isn't a deal breaker to me. It's a beautiful light grey (but not silver). I also got black, which is great. The only thing that is slightly odd is that the stuff pouch was literally just sitting in the left pocket of the vest, but not attached. Not a dealbreaker by far in my book, but it could make a difference to some other people.
All in all, I'm pleased with my super sale priced purchases. If these had been full price, I would have far more issues, but not as I got them substantially on sale.
