    Make the fish look up.

A sunny day out on the water would be absolutely perfect if it wasn't for the constant bite of the sun on your back, but you can keep the bite on your line by covering up with the Patagonia Men's Tropic Comfort II Long-Sleeve Hoodie. This lightweight and quick-drying hoodie provides protection from the sun that extends from the back of your hands to the top of your head thanks to the thumbholes and slightly oversized hood that easily flips up over your favorite fishing hat.

    Perfect for moderate summer weather

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't wear this as a sunshirt necessarily, but that doesn't stop me from loving it. It's pretty much the best thing ever for moderately warm weather. I wear it towards the end of summer, or at night by the water, and I also love wearing it around my air conditioned office. That being said, I have stood for hours outside in pretty intense dry heat and not noticed that I'm wearing it, so definitely pull the trigger if you're looking for sun protection, or if you're looking for a comfortable and versatile warm weather piece.

    Ditch the Sunscreen

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this shirt. It keeps the sun off wherever you are. I mostly using while fly fishing but it is now one of my favorite hiking and climbing shirts. Really comfortable and has long arms.

    perfect sun shirt

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i not only use this fishing but anytime im out in the sun. does great at blacking the sun without making you sweat, very breatheable and cool. wicks away moisture like a champ, and dries extremely quick. ive been fully submerged in the shirt several times and im always amazed at how quickly it dries. quality and reliable. will continue using this shirt for as long as a i can.

    My favorite shirt ever!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this shirt just to wear during all my outdoor adventures. It handles Salt Lake City's 90+ degree summers excellently. Hard to believe a long sleeve hooded shirt would be so cool. And the UPF 50 feature is super awesome.
I could recommend this shirt more!
5'10 175 and got a Medium, fits great

    Never taking it off

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this shirt because I'm apparently bad at putting on sunscreen when boating. However, it has quickly become my favorite piece of outdoor clothing. I've worn it hiking and climbing in CO, boating in Chesapeake Bay, and for lots of long hikes and runs in the DC/Shenandoah area. I've never been disappointed in it. The material is lightweight but durable so far and plenty stretchy for climbing. I will probably end up buying a few more as I'd rather wear this than a t-shirt anytime I'm not layering something over it.

It's on the baggy side so at 5'8 170 a small fits me perfectly in the shoulders without much unnecessary material around the waist.

    Best Sun Shirt out there

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Patagonia did it again, This Sun Shirt is hands down the best one I have tried. The loose fit and light colors keep you cool while hiking, climbing or just hanging out in the sun. The hood protects your neck ears and head without making you hot. I can't recommend this enough!

long sleeve, but keeps me cool?!

This is a great summer hiking shirt. It not only blocks the sun, but It manages to keep me somewhat cool while hiking in the 90-100 degree days we have in the summer in Utah. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who spends a good deal of time outside in the summer.

      The Perfect Shirt

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This shirt really is as great as everyone says. I am 170 pounds, 6 feet tall, and the medium fits perfect. I'll probably be buying more of these in the future!

thin and light, just what you need

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Keeps the sun off your skin without weighing you down. I was really impressed with the construction quality -- but I wouldn't expect anything less from Patagonia.

      Stave off the Sun

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are amazing. They are light, right, and keep the sun off when I need it most. I love these for long hikes and multi pitch climbs to make sure that I don't turn into a raisin by the end of the day.

You'll notice I keep saying "these", that's because I bought a second one immediately after I bought the first. So do yourself a favor, save on shipping, and put a second one in the cart.

      AWESOME protection, keeps you cool

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Wore this at Crystal Crag and then a couple days later up Mt. Whitney via mountaineer's route - kept me cool and protected in the sun, the hood never made me feel hot... Was awesome. Will take this with me on every sunny hike or climb from now on, and get another one when / if this one ever wears out. Hood felt very comfortable under helmet and very comfortable without too.

      Must Have

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

There is a reason this hoodie has so many five star reviews. If you are climbing, biking or hiking in hot sunny environments and do not want to mess with covering yourself in sunscreen this layer is perfect. It also layers well for spring and fall temps. Pick one up and enjoy! I am 6'2" 175 and I went with a Large.

      Must Have

      you need this layer

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my go-to, year round shirt. Perfect for hot summer days on the river, desert climbing missions, or sunny Colorado ski tours.

      **Ladies take note**
      I'm 5'7 / 130 lbs and I wear an xs (usually a women's M)
For some reason, Patagonia makes their men's sun hoodies 10x better than they make women's ones. Aside from fundamental differences in fit and features, the women's hoody is actually made of a heavier, less comfortable fabric. What gives, Patagonia?

      I love summer

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Summer, Sun, and coming out of hibernation. I do tan but it's a very slow process. I love these shirts because I can get full sun for an hour or two then throw this on and not be hot and sweaty. Stand up paddle board, fish, or go to the pool or beach. Its a great look and everyone is catching on. Get one before they are all gone. I like a baggier fit so I got a Large. I'm 5'11 180lbs

      Probably Great for Fishing

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this for use in the alpine. The fabric is comfortable and light and does an OK job blocking the sun (I got a slight burn on my arms, but I'm not sure if the intended use of this shirt is for long days at elevation). After three days of heavy use (hiking / climbing) the shirt was pilling at the seams and the wrists were significantly stretched out. It's probably great for fishing, but if you're looking for a shirt that is similar but built for heavy use in the mountains check out the Black Diamond Alpenglow Hoody.

Hey BC crew. 5'11" 210lb athletic build guy here. Consistent theme here is that these run pretty big. You folks think I pull off a medium? I don't want to be swimming in a large or have it hang down to my knees. Biggest concern with a medium is the chest and shoulders. What say you?
