    Packable rain protection.

Be ready for rainy weather on your next backpacking trip with the Patagonia Men's Torrentshell Pants. Made with Patagonia's H2No Performance Standard membrane, nylon fabric, and fully taped seams, the Torrentshell works to keep you dry as a bone and is super packable, so you can stuff it in one of the hand pockets and throw the whole package in your pack once the skies clear and the sun starts to shine. Patagonia paid careful attention to the details with these pants by treating the lower leg side zippers with a DWR coating for extra water resistance and using a 100% recycled face fabric to make the Torrentshell as eco-friendly as it is weatherproof.

    • Packable rain pants pull on over boots for quick coverage
    • H2No Performance Standard gives waterproof, breathable protection
    • Two-side zippers extend cuff to thigh to pull on over boots
    • Pant stuffs into pocket for compact storage
    • Item #PAT01CQ

hard shell pant for Mt Washington winter

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 185lbs

Awesome pant! Unzips just enough to put on with Large mountaineering boots on (sans crampons). Worth it though because full zips can be hard to work with in cold and don't insulate as well. Size large would to b too big if it they were not going over base layer and softshell pants.

    Packable and Durable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 135lbs

What drew me to these pants was the weight and packability, but I quickly found out just how functional they are as well. These are a no frills rain pant - no vents, no buttons or zippers, no cinches - but they keep you dry in the dampest conditions and hold up to trail abuse incredibly well. Personally, I've layered them over a thermal weight baselayer for snowy winter hikes and have stayed exceptionally warm and dry. And, of course, the Patagonia warranty is hard to beat.

A note about size: I have a 28-29" waist and ended up going with an XS which fit perfectly. These pants fit VERY baggy which is why I only gave them four stars. Be sure to check the size chart against your personal measurements before ordering.

    Great pack-able rain pant.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Perfect rain pant. They pack down really small and are lightweight. Perfect for camping, riding bikes in the rain, walks, anything outdoors that's wet. They hold up well in the rain and seem genuinely waterproof.

    Great Rain Pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 250lbs

Bought these as a packable set of rain pants for golf trips, but tried them for a pressure washing job this past weekend and they were perfect. Pulled right over my jeans and was able to unzip the pocket for easy access to my phone. I wear a 38 or 40 waist pant and them fit perfect. I need to get an extra set for my backpack for those pop up rain showers on top of my golf outings.

    Lightweight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

These have about everything you'd look for in a pair of rainproof pants. Yes, you can find Goretex pants that'll be more waterproof, breathable and potentially last longer, but my rain pants don't get the same amount of wear as, say, a jacket. So for the 3 - 5 times a year I need these, they're perfect!

    The real deal

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 170lbs

Just as advertised, light, incredibly waterproof, saved me during an incredibly wet walking holiday in the PNW last year.
Just wish they were a bit slimmer cut, but it's a minor complaint.

    A Necessary Pant

As much as it sucks to have to wear these when it's rainy and miserable outside, my husband is SO thankful he has these pants. I have the women's version and love them. My husband loves the fit, and they keep him dry when he needs it too.

      5 star for a non-rainpant wearing guy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't love rainpants, but when you're outside in multi-day rain you really can't stay or get back to dry without them.

These seem quite burly, although I've only used them hiking/light running. Assuming the fabric matches the quality of Patagonia's Torrenshell top, this should last a good long time.

      5 star for a non-rainpant wearing guy

Keeps the rain out and fits well

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Held up to 2 weeks of rain and more rain in the southern alps of New Zealand as well as other soggy backpacking and hiking trips. Basic rain pants with Patagonia quality. Great fit and solid zips.

      Great fit, and dry

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: L
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 195lbs

I ordered these for a recent backcountry trip and have to say I love them. The fit is great and the weight is good too. I was considering the Helium pants from OR but saved a little $ and have a better zipper for putting on with boots.

      Would buy again.

No wet butt for me anymore

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 170lbs

I bought these for my husband, for a trip he's going on in October to the Upper Cascade Mountains with his buddies. When he got them, he put them on and ran outside and grabbed the garden hose and started spraying himself.

I ran out and said," What are you doing?". He gently replied, "I'm making sure these don't leak and get me wet as it rain's a lot in the PNW during fall season so I need to make sure I stay dry.?

I thought to myself, hmmm... that's a good idea. What other way besides waiting to see if they work then field testing them before you go.

He also likes the bottom long side zipper from foot to high calf area so you can slip them on without taking off your boots or footwear. And their super light-weight.

      Solid rain pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 160lbs

These rain pants are what you would expect from patagonia- quality, functional, and durable. They do run a slightly long in the leg, but they have a snap button at the cuff with two adjustments that can cinch down around a leg or boot to prevent them from dragging the ground. Beyond that, nice double zipper adjustable side vents, side mesh pockets, and elastic/drawstring waistband.

Bottom line- definitely recommend these for anyone wanting a good pair of rain pants.

      Waterproof and yet comfortable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 170lbs

I've worn these while doing aerobic activities through admittedly not-so-fierce southern California downpours while and they haven't wetted through yet. Unlike every other pair of rain pants I've purchased, these were comfortable enough to actually keep wearing throughout the day. I'm not sure what else I'd want in a rain pant!
They are a little long in the leg.

      always with me

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 185lbs

i carry these everywhere i go as soon as i take my bike places. they are light, nice packing size, great deal! get on it and buy them!

In am looking at the Patagonia Torrentshell rain pant. I have 33 waist and 32"inseam. How do these run from a sizing standpoint - should I get a medium or large?

      Hi Robert,

If I were you, I'd go with the Mediums. They have a waist measurement of 31-33in and a 32in inseam.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
