    Torrentshell Insulated Jacket

Zip into the Patagonia Women's Torrentshell Insulated Jacket when there's a snowstorm standing between you and work. This fully recycled jacket uses water-shedding finishes and a waterproof and breathable H2No Performance Standard membrane to protect your casual getups from bone-soaking conditions. Made mostly out of recycled material, the jacket's Thermorgreen insulation provides lofty, midweight warmth suitable from fall to spring.

Patagonia fashioned the Torrentshell Insulated Jacket with zippers under each arm to let cold air blow in if you get too warm. The hood has insulation, two-way adjustments, and a laminated visor for optimal coverage, and it stows away with a simplified cord-and-hook design. There are more adjustments at the hem and at each cuff to seal out snow, and Patagonia lined the zippered pockets in microfleece to add warmth and protect your electronic valuables.

Great jacket for windy and cold weather

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: xs
    • Height: 5'2"
    • Weight: 120lbs

This jacket is absolutely amazing for windy and cold weather. I use it for bike commuting - it keeps rain and snow away, and keeps you warm. The pit zips are also nice because usually, I end up a little too hot in it (which is so much better than too cold!) My one complain is more about how Patagonia fits than anything: the sleeves are too short once you get the body to fit. When I wear it though I usually have gloves on with long gauntlets, so it's not a huge problem, but it is a consideration especially if you have normal-to-long arms.

    A Versatile Winter Jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 0'0"
    • Weight: 0lbs

I got this jacket for my mother for Christmas this past year, and she used it as her main winter jacket with only positive things to say. Weather she is driving to work in a snowstorm, walking the dog, or running errands around town. The 100 gram of insulation is great, and keep her plenty warm in a variety of conditions. Than the H2No shell is supremely waterproof and probably burlier than she will ever need, but still provides great protection from the winter elements. One of her favorite things is the adjustable hood, which allows her to get the fit just write in no time at all. Over-all this is a great addition to the torrentshell family.

    Possibly the Best Jacket Ever

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'2"

I received my Insulated Torrentshell last week (excellent shipping, by the way) and am THRILLED with it! This thing is waterproof, comfortable, and uses some kind of black magic to maintain incredible temperature regulation. It's also much lighter than many jackets with similar specs.

I usually wear down jackets in the fall and winter, but they tend to be bulky, are not usually waterproof, and aren't great at regulating temperatures when you are active or the weather changes. The Insulated Torrentshell fixes all of those problems. True, it's not quite as warm as down and weighs a bit more, but it does a fantastic job in a wide range of circumstances.

I live in the PacNW and bought this jacket for commuting, hiking, and travel purposes. I have used it commuting, but haven't had the chance to put it through its paces on the trail yet. But the other day, I was standing still for ten minutes waiting for the bus in 35-degree, snowy weather. With a scarf and gloves, this jacket kept me warm. When I got on the bus, I kept the jacket on and was fine in the warmer confines as well. When I wear a down jacket on the bus, I usually have to remove it to be comfortable. The Insulated Torrentshell, however, kept me warm when I needed it and didn't cause me to overheat when I didn't need it. The pit zips provide another way to prevent overheating, especially when active.

I don't know that I would want to wear the Insulated Torrentshell by itself when standing still for extended periods of time in temperatures much colder than 30 degrees, but the cut allows plenty of room for layers underneath. Keep in mind, though, that while this jacket runs true to Patagonia's usual sizing, Patagonia's usual sizing is still a bit on the smaller side, especially if you're a girl with curves.

I do have one complaint: While the two handwarmer pockets are nice and big, the only interior pocket is located at the bottom of the jacket, which means you have to unzip almost the entire length to access it. This seems dumb and out of the ordinary for the thought Patagonia put into the rest of the jacket.

tl;dr: Buy this jacket. It's waterproof, warm, and lightweight. Possibly magic?

    Great style but very lightweight

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

This coat I prchased for my daughter thinking it was heavier then it was. More of a fall, spring or rain jacket vs winter option.
