Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover
The Patagonia Men's Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover is about as classic as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And like a solid PB&J, the Snap-T is designed to withstand just about anything and everything you throw at it—including jelly from the sandwich itself. This classic fleece goes back to the first days of Patagonia (think 1985) so you know it's built to last. Additionally, the heavyweight fleece offers steadfast warmth, while the four-snap placket easily unsnaps, so you're able to cool off quickly should the temperatures begin to rise. Y-Joint sleeves provide unimpeded mobility in the shoulders and arms, and the chest pocket keeps small necessities secure and close at hand.

A frat house classic & must have
Sadly this see,s to be a Fratagonia item. The snap up has been an iconic piece since my college years and I guess Iâm just upset I wasnât in a frat. Great pullover, soft, and it will get burn holes is you accidentally land a hot ash on it.

I bought this for my brother for Christmas and this is what he had to say: The Snap-T is the standard that all Fleece pullovers should be held to. Bomber synchilla fleece that has a soft feel, but will take a huge amount of abuse and last the test of time (assuming you’re not a total idiot and don’t take a knife to it). Y-jointed sleeves make for dexterous arm movements so you can have full range of motion from bouldering and scrambling to being able to reach whatever you need on the top shelve. The elastic cuffs on the sleeves and waist are a nice add too, keeps the cold out. The fact that most of the fleece is recycle is just an awesome cherry on top. As for sizing I don’t like a lot of extra bulk in my top layers so I sized down to a small from my normal medium like other reviews have suggested and I’m happy I did.

Synchillas are hands down one of the most comfortable items I have ever owned, polyester fleece that is made of high quality also makes it great for the colder months. There's a reason Synchillas have been around for many decades! They are truly the best, they do however run a little large, I would recommend going down a size.

I bought this a gift for my boyfriend. He has always wanted one of these because it is well known to be super comfortable. Sure enough, it was! He loves his pull over. Whenever it is chilly out he throws this on and is warm even during most brisk mornings. Definitely make this purchase if you're looking for something easy, warm and comfortable.

Normally I wouldn't write a review about a fleece. After all, a fleece is pretty much a fleece. Several reviewers for this item have indicated a problem with the sizing; They feel that it runs too large. I ordered and received the Patagonia synchilla and found that it runs true to size. I am 5'8" and 165 pounds. So I purchased my usual medium size (despite the warnings to go a size smaller) and found that the medium works perfectly for me. It is slightly oversized, so if you're looking for a tight-fitting garment, then you might want to go a size smaller. Otherwise no, many people don't want a tight-fitting fleece.

I recently bought a synchilla and it has instantly become my go to pullover. It is really soft and comfortable. I like that it’s light weight and super warm, it reduces wind chill as well. I spend a lot of time outdoors, and while I wouldn’t call this item “packable”, it’s definitely my go to for sitting by the fire at base camp. I bought a medium because I wanted a more athletic style fit and I got exactly what I was hoping for. I’m 5’8 170lbs, if your looking for a more relaxed fit, go with your true size for sweatshirts. See you in the wild places!

I'm 6'4" 185lbs and I have a medium and it fits really well in the body, the sleeves could maybe be a half inch longer, but I have long arms and most stuff is a little short there. The large has an inch more on the sleeves but feels really baggy in the chest for me.

I am 6'1" and have 36" arms, but I am also skinny. Is there anyway to order a tall option or would I fit in a large?
Bethany J.
Marga
September 22, 2015
If I was you I would order a Large. There's no way to get a tall, and the medium would be way too short. My boyfriend (picture below) is just shy of 6' and the medium was way too short on him, so we sized up to a large, and the sleeves are a little bit long on him. Should fit you perfectly.
February 17, 2015
I recently brought this from the manufacturer website. It haven't arrive yet, but I'm worry it might be too big. I'm 5-4 142 and I normally wear a medium shirt/ jacket. I don't my clothes to be too tight on me so I decide to buy a Medium. Would that size be too big?

this isn't a slim fitting jacket. I usually wear a size large shirt, i ordered a large and it fits just fine! I would assume it would be the same for a medium! if you wear a medium shirt, a medium should fit! If it's too big, go on Patagonia's site on a week day, chat with them and exchange it for a size down!

Yes they fit differently. I have two old ones that although they are the same size, fit very differently. One was made in USA, one in Columbia. But this newest batch is all messed up. I ordered two of the new prints from the manufacturers website. If you will notice, they are not currently being offered on the company's website anymore, so they must have been made aware of the poor fit and construction by many people. They were much too small and I returned them with a note of my thoughts. I ordered a third new one from a different retailer. The fit on this one is better. But it is tight in the shoulders and has a lot of room in the belly. (clothing manufacturers must think Americans are REALLY fat, because everything is made bell-shaped nowadays.) There must be cheaper lycra in the cuffs and waist, because it doesn't stretch at all. Newest garment was made in Nicaragua. For a company that is supposed to be so environmentally conscious, I would really like to see what kind of shops these garments are made in. Why do you keep moving from country to country? Bring these jobs back to the USA. If you look at the pic provided, you will see that the pattern does not match at the seam. P.S. Stay away from the retro-x too if you have excema or sensitive skin. They say it's made from soda bottles. And I believe them. P.P.S. Sorry to put you on blast like this P. But you asked for it.

I left the above comment from May 1st 2014. I decided to give the lightweight snap-t a try since it was offered in Navy Blue. The fit and construction of the item I ordered matches the quality of the sweaters manufactured in the past. Maybe they worked out whatever issues they were having. It was manufactured in Nicaragua just like the one pictured above. I am very pleased with the newer garment.

I think a small might do it for you since the Snap T is a relaxed fit, but you're definitely close to needing a medium. Go small if you're ok w a little bit more of a snug fit, and medium if you won't mind it baggy and relaxed.

Thanks Ty. Just got a small and it fits perfectly. You're right Snap T is a relaxed fit. I usually wear shirt size between medium and large because I have broad shoulder. But this Snap T Small fits me just right. Very comfy and warm fleece jacket. Might come back for more. :)

How does this fleece compare to Polartec...
How does this fleece compare to Polartec Classic 300 (ie a North Face Denali) in terms of thickness and fuzziness?
NW Snowboarder
Phil Maher
January 2, 2014
Hey, In terms of thickness and performance, being the same weight fleece, it's going to be roughly the same. It's a little loose if you size it right, but it's not going to be anywhere near the overall bagginess of the Denali, which is especially huge in the arms. As stand-alone pieces, both are cold when the wind kicks up...like of no use at all. Nylon panels on the Denali add a little abrasion protection, but not so much in the insulation dept. Both pieces work best as a mid-layer under your shell...great insulation in that case, but the fit of the Synchilla under a shell makes it superior in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Hey John, I recently picked up a Patagonia Finmark poly/wool blend jacket and I've been pretty happy with it. It picks up a bit of lint and pet hair, but it doesn't hold it too much. All fleeces pick up lint. It's just the nature of the fabric and the texture. The trick is to wash it, then put it in the dryer with a dryer sheet and a wet towel. Those little lint rollers also seem to do a fairly decent job. Hope this helps you out.

Make sure to use dryer sheets to cut down on static cling. Apart from that, not much you can do about it, although buying a new lint roller could help too...

DO NOT USE DRYER SHEETS WITH SYNTHETIC MATERIALS! They stick to the fibers and will rapidly turn your soft, cozy fleece into worse than a dog blanket...

I would try calling one of the Patagonia Outlet stores. You can find their numbers here: http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/store-locator Also, Real Cheap Sports in Ventura, CA has a good selection of past-season goods. They will take phone orders and ship to you. I know it's tough when you find a color you like and you don't know if the company will ever make it again (though Patagonia often does similar colors with different names!). Hope this helps!
