    The ANSWER

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

LOVING this thing so far, all the load space you could want with the access of a vest, seriously the best of both worlds. Overkill for shorter days but I think even then still worth carrying anytime you have beers and a layer you may want to ditch. I use the Stealth Atom sling for shorter trips out but easily overload it for anything more than half-day.

Call outs: sweet rip-stop like fabric, elasticized pockets with oversize flaps (you can use one to hold a can of beer!), plenty of attachment points and organization. Really well-thought out overall. Both the vest and pack seem very functional on their own and I think the pack will become my go-to day-pack and the vest carried alone on backpacking trips as it's so light-weight.

The vest/pack interface is pretty simple and unobtrusive itself but leads to my *only* complaint - the waist-belt needs to be removable or more easily stowable, so it doesn't interfere with your wading belt. To solve this I wrap the pack hip-belt around to the back and connect to the daisy chain, issue solved. Anyone who needs to comfortably carry more for the river than they can now should check out this sweet piece of gear.

    Combo backpack/vest works great!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My Dad loves this! He fishes in the Smoky Mountains a decent amount and will usually backpack in and take off from camp for the day. He loves the backpack for taking lunch, an extra layer or 2, and water and still has a little extra room. That it comes with the vest for fishing supplies is the icing on the cake! When he's just on a day trip he'll detach the vest and even that is much better and more breathable than his old cloth one. It's durable, functional, and good looking!

    Pack

This is an excellent quality pack/vest combo. All materials are extremely lightweight and there is a nice truly waterproof sealed pocket inside for electronics. The pack says one size fits all but the vest is actually quite large and I think it is much more comfortable on someone that is a size large or above. I have not been able to fully utilize the vest, but I am not used to fishing with one and I love the pack overall.

      great gift

Gave it as a gift and what Im hearing is that the waterproofing is great and being able to carry everything with you as you move up and down the stream is great.

      Versatile Pack/Vest For Every Scenario

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 190lbs

This pack and vest set up I have been using for the past 2.5 years. I have used it in just vest form searching out small tactical streams in the Uinta Mountains, Just in pack form for day hikes in the Spanish Fork area. The pack along can hold two large bug boxes along with food water and all the essentials to keep you out of trouble. Finally, I have used this back and vest for a substitute boat bag and it was able to handle every little bit of tackle I needed for the day. My only issue which is a positive thing with so much available space and tactical build I over-pack every time I take it out.

      Simple, but still innovative

It seems like such a simple idea to attach a fishing vest to a backpack like this, but this is honestly the first time I've seen this. I picked it up and was instantly impressed by how well made everything was and how truly waterproof the pack is.

        Quality Item

I was super hype for this Patagonia backpack and fishing vest. I had originally planned to use the bag all the time, even for just my casual outings. I was wrong once I recieved the item. The bag is made with excellent material and is very high quality and durable, but it's just super small for casual backpacking. With that being said, it's made for fly fishing... And it plays the part well. I highly reccomend the backpack if you are fly fishing. If you are not, stay away. I accidentaly dropped the bag in a puddle, conpletely submerged. Guess what.... It disn't collext any water inside. It might as well be called waterproof. I use my tenkara rod holder in the water bottle pockets, and it's a little small. But with a regular fly eod tube, it would fit perfect. I love this thing and woukd recommend it to every fly fisherman.

          SWEEEEEET PACK!

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
          • Fit: True to size

I bought this pack to replace my chest pack which replaced my hip pack which replaced my vest...
As you can see I have had a hard time with carrying my flies and gear. I never liked vests and so I began my search, the problem with the hip pack and the chest pack was there weren't as many pockets as a standard vest and no real ability to carry other gear. Nor were they as comfortable as a vest. I recently began going back to the vest because its the most versatile of the selections out there (for me).
Out comes the Sweet Pack! Its a vest, its a back pack, its a vest pack!!!
Really it is everything I need for a day hike in. I can put rain gear in it, I can put food in it, I can put wadders in it, I can put BEER in it. to top it off, I can convert it to just a vest and fish with it being very light.
I think this is my longest review ever and its for a fly fishing pack. THATS HOW GREAT IT IS!

          Love it!

Great pack. Got it for a fishing trip to the White River in AR. Its only been on one 6 day trip, but it was awesome. Built like a tank, very well laid out and very comfortable.

          rad!!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pack is awesome, the fully detachable mesh vest is great and the pack has some really nice features. Not to mention it carries really well. I have used most fishpond backpack/vest/chest pack combos and this is much better. plus it allows you to pawn carrying the big pack off to your buddy since you can detach the vest!

          rad!!

          Stoked on the upgrade

Patagonia has made a few versions of this pack over the years. It was recently discontinued for a few seasons and now it is back and better than ever. The backpack portion is wear you will see most of the changes. The back become a little more feature oriented, while adding a bit of weight. The vest portion stays pretty true to Patagonia's former vests found on the pack vest. Good for any angler. This pack/vest combo will do it all.
