so fresh and so soft

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

These sun masks are awesome. Super soft material feels really nice against my skin. I wear it for everything from fishing to skiing to hiking or anytime I need sun protection. I like the trout print because I blend in with my local trout school when I'm on the river.

Awesome Color and Great Comfort

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I purchased the Fourteen Fish/Trout desgin and the colors are beautiful. A great addition to my fishing gear and one that I value very much because of it's ability to avoid sun burns to my neck, face, ears, and nose.

I dig these

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I am a huge fan of sun protection and I highly recommend these. I have one for myself and then bought some for my family this summer and we all love them. Its perfect for protecting you against a gnarly sunburn but its also perfect to put in water and put it back on to cool off in the summer heat. I use mine for kayaking, hiking, and fly fishing.

Sunblock

I prefer this to a UV Buff. It is longer and tapered as well. The material seems nicer too.

I agree that this buff is a little large, but it fit me nicely and is comfy. I really like how the edges are sewn as to not potentially unravel. The winning design on this is the extra length in the back to cover your neck.

It's too big and loose.

Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
Fit:Runs large

It uses the same fabric that Patagonia Tropic Comfort II Hooded Shirt uses, and even the color that I picked is the same as my Tropic Comfort II, which is why I give it two stars. This thing only has one size but I normally wear medium hat. So I figured it would fit me when I ordered it. However, this thing is too big and loose to stay on my head/ face. I can imagine how miserable I'll be wearing it on a boat that's sailing. Sorry but I sent it back right away.

Light weight but effective

Used this to hold my hair back and cover my face while skiing. I like that it is thin but keeps my head warm when used under my helmet. Helped block the wind and kept me warm. Used it hiking and while mountain biking. Great to have on windy days to cover the face to keep the nose warm and dry. I'm usually wearing a helmet or hat when I use this so I can bunch the extra material into it to keep it on my face. Or I have it over my head. This may not work for some people who want a more snug fit.

Must item for my summer mountain climbs

I have used when hiking/climbing Mt.Baker in Washington: great lightweight protection for my head and neck. It's a very practical item to have: you now have a hat, head, neck and face protection when needed.

Fantastic

As it is with 99% of Patagonia's apparel this sun mask is outstanding, unlike most buffs, this one actually features a tapered design that actually gives you premium protection around your neck as well as your face!

Not just for fishing

My hair tends to get a little longer during the colder months or while I'm doing activities in the cold so I am always trying to find ways to keep the hair out of the eyes. A hat isn't always the best solution because then you have a soggy hat band, so I thought I would pick up one of these guys to try since I watched my buff fly off my head while climbing Mt Whitney a couple months ago. This works great for everything I needed and more. It works as a neck gaiter, balaclava, hat, or wristband and since there is a ton of material, it definitely works better as a headband if you roll up the material a bit to make it not so wide. It is lightweight and extremely breathable and I was pretty impressed with how fast it dries. The tapered design is noticed while wearing as well and seems to be more comfortable with how it rests on your shoulders vs the bagginess of a buff as it rests at the base of your neck. It is super light and helps keep the sunburn away, even at the high altitudes on the snow.

Can this function the way a buff does too? Can you use it as a bandana around your head if you twist it fold it like a buff? Thanks!
