Strider Pro 7in Shorts
Who wears short shorts? Not you, so much. Offering a slightly longer cut than their 5-inch companions, the Patagonia Stride Pro 7in Shorts provide added coverage without sacrificing their airy feel and wicking performance as you run. The body of the short is made with a lightweight recycled polyester ripstop fabric that wicks moisture and offers breathable comfort on your warm-weather runs, even giving you an added dose of cooling airflow with a slight split at the leg ends. You'll have all the storage you need on longer, high-mileage runs with four open waistline pockets that stash energy gels and packable weather shells easily thanks to their stretchy construction. There's also a zippered security pocket in the back that keeps keys and IDs from falling out in the middle of a ten mile out-and-back on the trail. Plus, these shorts have a comfortable, moisture-wicking liner that gives you constant support and won't gather odor after even the most grueling runs and workouts.

just the right number of pockets. i like the liner a lot too. the 5" one is too short for me to feel comfortable in; these are the right size.

And the newest version with the brief liner is the best imho. The ones I have with the boxer brief become loose the longer you wear them during a race while the brief keeps everything in control. I have these in both the 5 and 7" and they are my favorites of all the different Patagonia running shorts I own.

I am just a casual jogger. My other runner shorts are air force PT gears for my reference. This one has multiple useful pockets that kept things in place. My LG V30 phone fit in the back or side pockets.

First of all, I am a huge fan of Patagonia's products. To to be fully unsatisfied by one of their items was a bit of a surprise. I have not tried the previous version of these shorts with the longer liners, but as others have said, the brief style liner in this version is uncomfortable and in my opinion, too small. I am 5'9

The previous version of these shorts were amazing and I hiked the entire PCT in them. The new version has a brief liner not boxer brief and feels like cheaper material. Sadly, will be returning and looking for something else for next thru hike.

much preferred the old boxer brief liner vs brief liner and the old materials in liner, short and especially the side pockets. Old material in pockets allowed you to put much more in there.

Shorts are great! Love all the pockets. You can't put to many heavy items or shorts will bounce a lot. But over all a great pair of running shorts.

They ruined the liner

The liner on these (2019) are not like previous years. Instead of the spandex-ish like boxer briefs liner they now have an egg basket style brief with hard elastic edges. Ruined the best shorts ever made

These are the best running shorts I have worn (compared to Nike, UA, Arc'teryx, etc.). They have a snug fit but are breathable and stretchy. I like the pockets but they are nothing to write home about--I don't think expectations should be high with pockets on running shorts. I like that they have slimmer legs where as some running shorts turn into parachutes.

Absolutely the best long run shorts. The pockets are great for gels or snacks or wallet - and you will forget they are even there. The compression built ins are amazing too. My favorite shorts now.

This short is amazing! The liner is long, boxer-like and it feels extremely comfortable. the fabric breathes perfectly and makes running on hot weather easier. It runs a tad small, so if you're on the big side I'll recommend a size up.

I own several pairs of past model strider pro's (5 inch and 9 inch) and these provide all of the same features at a different length option. I have worn them recently on day hikes and trail runs in weather conditions that ran the gamut and on terrain that included some rocky scrambles and dense bushwacks and they show no wear and tear despite being snagged a few times. The stash pockets are big enough for trail food and light accessories. I carried 3 cliff bars, a houdini and an iphone without feeling like the shorts were too weighed down. They resist water and dry quickly if they do become soaked (the liner takes longer to dry). One change from other models is these have a bike short type liner. I typically cut out the liner and wear my own compression undergarment, but i have been wearing these with the built in liner and I have not experienced any chaffing. My only complaint would be the liner material is a bit too thick for my preference and makes the shorts feel hotter. They fit true to size, if a bit roomier than other versions.

I own two pairs of these shorts. I find them very comfortable and I love the available storage. The two larger stash pockets will fit my MSR trailshot so for most runs with available water along the way I don't need to bring a bottle which is nice. I was able to fit 5 12oz beers in the shorts which is a bonus. I have not had any problems with the draw cord it stays tight and needs to be non elastic or the shorts wouldn't work. i find the boxer type liner more comfortable than my shorts with a regular liner. One thing to note is they do shrink a bit with washing.

Love these shorts I have a couple pair both with long liner and standard "brief" style Pros: Pockets that work and don't bounce things Rear pocket holds IPHONE 6(s) in waterproof case liner is breathable (both versions) Colors are great very light Cons Drawstring on this years (2017?) are thinner and appear to be smaller than my previous years (2015?) not sure the reason, just dont like the "newer" string/drawcord. COST- HOLY COW, I can only afford on clearance or discount ( thank you BACKCOUNTRY) I keep myself plugged in to the e-flyers/product updates.
