    Great Sun Shirt

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs large

The Sol Patrol II makes for an awesome sun shirt! The material is nice and lightweight (and the vents definitely help too) which make it easy to wear in hot weather. It wicks moisture, and also does dry rather quickly. Perfect shirt for outside sunny adventures when you don't feel like using a whole bottle of sunscreen for your top!
We did find it to fit a little large- originally ordered the L which is what he generally takes in tops, especially in "adventure shirts", but had to swap it out for the M which fit muuuuuuch better. If you're in between sizes, you would probably want to size down.

    LOVE IT.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 185lbs

Soo light it feels like you have nothing on. Great comfortable mesh fabric at center back with side vents and arms facilitates ventilation to keep you cool and the overall cut of the shirt makes you look even cooler.

    Grab This And Get Outside!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this for a friend who's big into fishing at the beach. He said it kept the sun off him without overheating and that the ventilation was pretty great and it didn't get stinky enough that his wife complained after two days. Sounds like a winner shirt.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

I normally like to own my gear for a while before I review it. I only bought this shirt a week ago, but we're gonna do this thang RIGHT NOW!

I went fishing and golfing in Northern Minnesota last weekend and I didn't take this bad boy off. I have a lot of tattoos, so I like to keep them out of the sun as much as possible.

I buy A LOT of Patagonia and I am a true Medium in their line. However, knowing that this shirt runs a little big and given that it is a sun shirt, which I wont be wearing any other shirts under, I sized down to a Small. Fits like a glove.

The pockets are well placed, the material is light, the craftsmanship is on point, every stich is perfect, and the collar!!! This thing has a double rolled, meaning it double unrolls to cover your entire neck. So you don't need a buff in the sun.

I highly recommend sizing down and buying this shirt!

High quality shirt, not correctly sized

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Very attractive, well-crafted shirt. I ordered a Medium, which is usually pretty reliable. It was too small in the chest (I take a 41/42). Probably should have ordered a large. No problem with the shirt itself, just sizing.

    Good for SPF

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 135lbs

Bought this for my stepdad who cannot be in the sun. He brought it to Mexico and wore it a ton. He stayed cool while having the SPF protection he needs. Looks like he'll use this on the boat this summer as well.

    Fish on

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

This shirt is my go to fly fishing shirt. In reference to some of the other reviews it is a bit baggy under the arms but i didn't have an issue with it. I love the UV protection in the shirt. Has really well spaced pockets. The colors on this shirt are all bomber. This is an awesome shirt for ripping lips.

    Great idea, strange fit

    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: medium and small

I really wanted this shirt to fit. The design is tremendous, well thought out, loved the material, loved the pocket placement and the snapped collar. It is a quality made shirt from Patagonia. However the sizing is really strange. The torso of the shirt fit ok in my normal shirt size (medium) and better in a smaller size (small). But as another reviewer mentioned, the sleeves were really baggy. The sleeves looked and felt like a women's blouse. On top of that, the arm holes where the sleeve meets the torso of the shirt seemed small and high up. The result was a shirt which felt slightly tight across the chest/shoulder, way too baggy in the arms, and almost right in the body. Cut and sizing is really important to me, so I returned both sizes I tried on (small and medium).

Totally agree with the Puffy Pirate shirt comment ...

    Rad idea, Odd Fit.

I recently tried this shirt on and I really wanted it to work out. The fabric is awesome; super light and airy, as well as UPF 30 protected. I really liked all the colors, and the pockets are really functional, but the fit just didn't work out for me. I am normally right on the boarder between medium and large, and tried on the Medium, which fit perfectly in the body, but the arms, specifically in the arm pit and bicep region, were insanely baggy. I understand that this is a shirt designed for fly fishing, and a little extra fabric is warranted so that your cast isn't inhibited, but this was a ridiculous amount of extra fabric. I felt like I was wearing the puffy shirt from Seinfeld. Needless to say this shirt did not work out for me, I really wanted it to, but the fit was just too odd for me.

    Great hot Weather Shirt

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

I bought the shirt in Lite Distilled Green. I'm an avid paddler, lift with heavy weight on a regular basis, and run a few times a week, so I'm broad-shouldered with an athletic build. I wear large in most brands but medium in this shirt fits me great. (If you're use to Columbia PFG button-down shirts, the fit is similiar)

I've worn it fishing from my kayak, hanging out at the beach, and out on the docks in the evening. It is very comfortable and the vents worked great in the high 90s heat we've had here in the Hampton Roads area. The sleeves are great for avoiding getting sunburnt out on the water and the buttoned keeper keeps the sleeves rolled up high when you don't need the added sun protection.

Its been through a few washes and isn't showing any wear. So far its has stayed wrinkle free when I pull it out of the dryer warm.

I love the looks of the shirt and have had enough compliments about it that I ordered the same shirt in Tubular Blue. I hope the Sol Patrol II style stays around for a while so that I can buy more colors in the future.

This is actually my husband's shirt but he does not write reviews. I ordered it for him after he admired my own Patagonia sun shirt. It is everything he wanted---lightweight, good-looking, very comfortable, and protective from the sun. It is everything we expect from our favorite brand (Patagonia). And as usual the service from backcountry.com was fast and efficient.
My husband usually wears size large because of his shoulders ( former swimmer), but went with the Medium for a trimmer fit and it is perfect.

This shirt make a great travel shirt

I just wrapped up a tripped to Brazil and took this shirt with me. I tested the shirt on the airplane. It looks really nice and has lots of pockets and if you get a little warm the roll-up sleeves with button keeper is a nice touch. The next thing i used it for was at the beach as a sun shirt. Once again it works great for that as it was designed for that. The next test was hiking a 3400 foot peak in round trip 7.6 miles in fairly humid 75 degree weather. I was using it more for the bugs than the sun at this point and it did a great job of keeping me bug bite free. Its definetely got a bit damp from all the sweat but it doesn't SOAK it up like a cotton shirt would and it dried real quick on top of the peak. All and all I really recommend this shirt. It fits great, has great ventilation and plenty of pocket space .
