You'll be happy you pulled down the Patagonia Shelled Synch Duckbill Cap when your afternoon bicycle commute is pelted with wind-driven snow. The wind-resistant shell is made from a PU-coated nylon fabric that's treated with DWR to keep your dome precipitation-free, while the lining is made from a cozy Synchilla fleece to wick any moisture build-up and eliminate frozen ears.

- Q & A
Bought this for flyfishing, so far so good, keeps my ears toasty on those cold winter mornings.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Patagonia always makes stellar products and this is no different. I love that the ear flaps roll up and take some heat off the head when indoors. The hat is very soft and keeps my head warm. I can even wear a snowboarding helmet over it because of its slim profile. I get some comments occasionally for being a cool hat. I bought the blue hat locally and found it in black on Backcountry and bought that too. Doubled down! Love it! Surprisingly the Small size fits me and I wear a 7 and 1/2 baseball cap. I also have a thin long head so that may play a factor into sizing.
what are the loops for on the bottom of the ears?
