The black recycled wool cap by Patagonia is something that I have wanted for quite a while. i finally "pulled the trigger" with Backcountry and am very satisfied. Backcountry's service was terrific & FAST! I wanted this wool low profile hat for two particular reasons: WOOL & LOW PROFILE! I bought this cap in order to have a smart looking hat to mount my very old (try 1970) US Navy issued garrison cap device. I am proud of that cap device and thrilled that I still have a head upon which to wear it. Patagonia will not like reading this next part of the review however. I was able to easily remove the Patagonia label and mount the cap device dead center in its place. Don't feel bad Patagonia, the curmudgeon in me causes me to remove the labels off most of my stuff. The cap now looks great and kind of "old school" like myself. If you are not into those heavily structured stiff high in the front baseball type of hats this may just be what you are looking for.

New Favorite Hat

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought this for the upcoming cooler weather we are expecting and absolutely love it. With my head shape and big ears I can really only pull off the five-panel hats since other, larger crowned hats sit too low on my head. This cap not only holds up well to being thrown around, it looks great too! I was worried the wool would be itchy but this hat is soft, warm, and doesn't irritate my head.

Touring Hat

Familiarity:

I don't like buying new hats. Once I find something I like I'll wear it until its falling apart. But my old hat served its time and was due for replacement so I picked this hat up. The fit is great, the material is soft and nice. Great for touring in the winter. Will wear it until it worn out!

This is by far the best 5-panel I've ever owned. The wool is a unique addition, super soft material! Would highly recommend! Fits all types of heads.

Best 5 panel alive

This hat is sick, I bought the grey and its warm but not too bulky. Fits my head well, and is easily adjustable. 100% would recommend, wish they had it in black too...
