Not perfect, but pretty dang good
- Familiarity:

I’m 5’10, 168lbs and the Medium fits me great. It’s not trim like a standard baselayer, but not super baggy either. I find most Patagonia pants are cut way too big. I was worried they would be too warm because I’m in NC, but they breathe quite nicely. I was disappointed to see how quickly the material pilled up, especially at this price. They are super comfortable, but are lacking a back pocket and zippers on the side pockets. Can’t say they’re perfect at this price, but they’re pretty good.

These looked great out of the package and are comfortable and warm. But after about 4 washes, they look pilled and worn. First wearing I felt comfortable wearing them to the airport, but after a few months they look like old pajamas.

So good. Comfy and warm. They will pill, but they’re not going to score you a date anyway.

Super comfortable

I bought these to wear as a mid layer under ski pants. For this, they are excellent. They're incredibly comfortable and while I've only worn them a few times, seem warm. They're loose enough to wear to the mountain without feeling like I'm wearing yoga pants, but not too baggy to wear under a ski pants. Very happy with them.

Just writing a review to say these run pretty true to size. Medium is actually 32" inseam and large is actually 33" inseam. Measured them myself. Not sure what some of the other reviews saying these run long. One guy even said 5" too long? I guess if you normally wear 27\28" inseam. I need a medium tall. The medium were too short, the larges too wide. If you are average height these would be great pants.

Under Waders or as Lounge Pants
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit:

- Height
- 6` 1"

The R1 Pants are the BEST. They're not super warm, so they're perfect under your waders for late Fall or early Spring fishing because they're soft to the touch, have a fantastic temperature regulating grid on the interior (just like the R1 tops from Patagonia), and don't look super frumpy. I gave these as a gift for the holidays to a guy who doesn't fish, and he's super stoked on them for around the house.

Great wade pants
Got these for my duck & fishing waders. I used to wear cheap sweats that wouldnât breathe, but I ended up feeling wet from sweating during the walk to the blind/river. These keep you warm but wick away moisture. Iâve been searching a long time for a good mid layer under breathable waders, and I finally found them. Worth every penny. I canât wait to try them skiing on cold or deep days. Iâm 6â2â, 210 lbs, and typically wear 36/32 pants. I got the XL and it is definitely loose and baggy, but thatâs what you want in sweatpants anyway. The inseam is more like a 34 so the ends go past my ankles. Itâs ok because I usually wear slippers or shoes. I agree they are stylish enough for apres-anything.

Best Pants!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I bought these pants for my brother as a gift and this is what he said "I purchased these to replace a previous pair that I have worn for the past 15 years and hope these will last as long as the previous pair. These pants are a fantastic and well constructed all around essential piece of gear I can't live without. They are extremely versatile and serve me well both relaxing by the camp fire or around the house and as an under-layer for cold adventures out in the snow. "

I love these pants! They definitely have a slim cut and the inseam for the Medium is probably closer to 33" (which works great for me!) These pants use the smaller grid pattern and stitched logo similar to the old R1 jackets (which would still be my preference). Extremely happy with this purchase and the fast shipping from Backcountry!

These pants are cut so much better than the previous version. The earlier cut was like long underwear at the cuffs and this cut is more like uncuffed sweatpants. You can wear these alone when out and about town or as part of your layering system. Comfortable, stretchy and true to size.

My boyfriend wears these for lounging around and loves it. He's starting to even wear them out and about...he is truly in love with these. On cold days, he will wear these under his snow pants while skiing in bounds - I wouldn't recommend them for intense exercising such us ski touring but great for everything else.

Loving these
I love these! I wish my girlfriend hadn't stolen them. I'll get her some of her own. I wear M in all Patagonia, and these run true. To size. I would buy other colors too if more were available. Quality as always.

If you like the R1, these pants are a must have. They fit great underneath a hard shell snow pant on really cold days and there is no warmer or more comfortable sweat pant to kick it apres style after the last run of the day. They fit true to size for Patagonia product - I am 5'11", 180 with a ~34" waist and the L fits great.

Wanted to love these pants the moment I opened the bag but holy cow do these run large. The inseam on the medium was nearly 5" too long and the rise (crotch to waist) drooped about 2" below what I'd consider normal level and another 2" above my actual waist. To their credit though they felt incredibly warm and I was loathe to send them back.

I really hoped I'd hate these pants. I bought these on a whim recently after being tempted with a sale price and a newly deposited Christmas bonus check from work. Needless to say I was excited; Patagonia is great! Sales are awesome! What can go wrong? While I waited for them to arrive, the anticipation and honeymoon feeling wore off as I realized I just paid over $100 for freakin sweatpants. Are you kidding me? I could have had like 28 McFlurrys! Buyers remorse set in and I had it resolved to return these once they arrived on my doorstep. But lo and behold they arrived and I stupidly decided to try them on. Ya know, why not? They're here, might as well see what all the fuss is about. A sense of euphoria crept over me as I slipped them on one leg at a time. The next level comfort, the warmth, the perfect cut...I was stuck. And the euphoria is now being matched with frustration about how these do not suck like I wanted them too, not in the slightest. Now I have to keep them and somehow explain to my fiance how and why I bought $100 sweatpants. Because they're God's gift to mankind that's why! Lay off me! And while she is struck with disbelief about how my wallet is not unlike a cliffs of Niagara Falls, I will be in pure bliss with my lower half caressed by the unparalleled comfort of this heavenly pant.

Is it possible to get measurements on this? What is the actual waist, inseam, and rise? Curious about M vs L, I typically wear 34x34. Tend to size up on baselayers to L but pants are usually more towards M Tall.
