    Powslayer Jacket

Winter’s first snowfall incites a childlike frenzy of embarrassing impatience and greed that can only be satisfied with one thing: more snow. The designers of Patagonia’s PowSlayer Jacket are right there with you. From the 3-layer Gore-Tex shell to the essentials-only, no-frills design, the PowSlayer was made to get first tracks all season long.

The eco-friendly recycled face fabric is deceptively heavy duty and can take an accidental brush with a tree branch when you’re skiing behind your friend that can’t stand to stay on designated trails. Plus, on top of the already waterproof nature of Gore-Tex, the PowSlayer’s outer shell is also treated with DWR to easily brush off the fattest of snowflakes and withstand the soggiest of spring storms. Underarm zips release steam when your boot packing your way to the top, and the athletic fit leaves ample room for layering in single digit weather so no summit has to be left unconquered.

    • Make the most of your next powder day with this jacket
    • Eco-friendly face fabric made entirely from recycled material
    • Lightweight, breathable Gore-Tex Pro protects from wet snow
    • DWR finish makes the biggest snowflakes roll of face fabric
    • Helmet-compatible hood delivers added coverage during storms
    • Zippers are watertight and durable to keep contents dry
    • Powder skirt attaches to any compatible Patagonia snow pants
    • Patagonia is committed to producing sustainable outerwear
    • Item #PAT01X3

    Great Jacket!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought this for my wife as her first jacket now that she lives in Utah. She loves that the jacket is not only cute, but provides a lot of pockets for her to store stuff in. It's not only warm (based on layering), but keeps her dry as well! She normally wears a small and this fit true to size.

    SMITTEN KITTENZ!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

Well, you likely already know I'll be raving about this jacket, so I'll preface it with the most important disclaimer: THIS JACKET FITS BEST FOR TALL, GANGLY FOLKS.

If you're more on the petite side or have a curvier shape/wider hips, this jacket will likely fit baggy in the shoulders and REALLY tight in the waist. I'm a baby giraffe (5'9" and 140lbs, I blame my 6'5" dad for the tall genes), so this is just about the first technical shell that is loooong in the arms and torso, flattering, fits well under a harness, and isn't as wide as a sack of potatoes on me. I've never been so happy with the fit of a touring/alpine shell. HOWEVER, if you don't identify with the slightly-curvy-goofy-stalk-of-asparagus body type like I do, I'd recommend the UNTRACKED or the POWDER BOWL jackets--they're shorter in the torso and accommodate curves/petite figures FAR better.

I purchased the Medium, and it's fitted in the hips (mine are 35in, for reference) and I can fit an insulating layer like the Arc'teryx Atom LT or the Patagonia Nano Air/Nano Puff under it very comfortably. However, if I planned to layer puffier/loftier layers (think Hi Loft Down Sweater or Thorium Parka), I DEFINITELY would have gone with the large. I use this shell for touring, ice climbing, and other alpine pursuits, so the slimmer-fitting medium is a better choice for wear with a harness. I paired the jacket with the Arc'teryx Sentinel Pant in Medium (also amazing) which is pretty low-bulk/low-profile and fits with the shell nicely.

    SO, the pros:
Pockets exactly where you need them, ridiculously easy to access. Nice, high collar that sticks up and doesn't curl in under your chin and poke you in the neck (mega pet peeve of mine). Fabulous underarm vents for touring, fairly easy to open/close, and imperceptible when not in use. Two way zipper, which is great for accessing pockets of midlayers. And finally, though it's cosmetic, the vibrant blue color is beyond lovely.

The only two cons for me are that the front zipper is a little tricky to seat and pull when super cold, and the storm skirt isn't removable (I not-so-secretly hate them).

Bottom line, if you're a tall/slim gal that tours, just get this jacket. You'll ski happily ever after.

    Loved it but....

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I had read a few reviews stating how this jacket ran small, couldn't disagree more.. I'm 5'8", 140, not small, I ordered a large because it sounded like it ran so small.. It doesn't, it's very true to size, meaning the large I ordered is too big, I know have to return it and there is now medium.. My point is, ignore the other reviews about fit.. This coat is awesome, wish it fit..:(
