    Perfect light jacket

This jacket is by no means for someone going somewhere below freezing with a tshirt underneath but does the job for a brisk day. It packs down super small and is a go to for my partners camping trips or a hike.

      Great jacket

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 155lbs

It’s a great layer with a shell. Super lightweight and will keep you warm in most situations.

      perfect coat for travel

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: small
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 160lbs

I love how little room this coat takes up in my backpack or luggage when i'm not wearing it. It's extremely comfortable and kept me really warm while walking around the city in NYC. It's also not too warm to wear on cooler nights. I wish there was just a little more room around the shoulders, but the jacket is still extremely comfortable and looks great. Hope this lasts as long as my other patagonia gear.

      Awesome Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

Bought these for my girlfriend and myself to replace a pair of North Face jackets that have been giving us problems.

One of the first things we noticed was the weight, or lack there of. Despite the "barely there" feel these things offer plenty of warmth on moderately cool days. They are thing enough to easily layer a shell over the top when things get genuinely cold or inclement weather sets in.

The pack-ability of these jackets is fantastic. Simply unzip the interior chest pocket and stuff the jacket into it. The compressed size easily fits into a suitcase or backpack for travel or trail adventures.

      Great wear around town piece

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 6'3"
      • Weight: 190lbs

I bought this and already want it in two more colors. I got the black and it looks so nice either as its own piece or to layer with. Product feels great and insulates very well. The ability to stuff it into its own pocket is huge for me. It was easy to figure out and takes 30 seconds.

      WTH

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

This jacket is beautiful, but it isn’t a snow jacket... at least where we live! Haha. I purchase this for my husband based on the good reviews. It does fit very true to size. He is a size XL and the jacket fits well, and the technology has such good reviews that we thought it would be warm enough, especially based on some of the reviews where people are wearing it on the mountain, but no way. It is extremely light weight which my husband late because he doesn’t like a bulky coat, but he tried it out just around our house outside and it wasn’t warm enough. He said if he put layers on he could make it work, but we ordered this jacket thinking that he wouldn’t need to do that, especially at a $200 price point (not on sale). We both love Patagonia and both travel with Patagonia packs and we absolutely love those, but this jacket was a miss for him unfortunately. He also says if you do need to layer it you do need to go up a size. He tried to wear his fleece underneath it to see if you could make it work and it was just too tight around the shoulders with both layers. This would be better suited for temperatures around 45 and up to give you an idea. WAY colder here and just not warm enough alone- but to be fair, this jacket doesn’t claim to be a winter coat, We just kind of went off of reviews.

I'd have one for every day if I could!

All of the following meet or surpass expectations:
Fit, quality, warmth, colors, weight, durability. Easily fits between layers - a waterproof shell will be needed if you go out in cruddy weather. Patagonia makes it a no-brainer.
All of the following do not meet my expectations:
none; though I do miss the navy w/red zips and paintbrush red w/ blue options.

      Good under a shell

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I dig this nano puff for sure. It is very thin, and very light weight but super warm for sure it looks also really nice. I usually wear this one under a shell, or ski jacket because it does have a little bit of a low profile which I really like. Defiantly a nice looking jacket, that has a very nice look to it in any situation.

      Gave As A Gift

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I got this as a gift for my brother and have feedback to share. He is 6'2" and 180lbs. He's wearing a size large, which fits well. He says that it's super lightweight and looks nice enough to wear casually out to dinner as well as under a shell jacket for extra warmth. He likes the collar length, not too high or too low. It's also very packable and will fit into its own pocket or a stuff sack with ease for travel, stashing in your pack on the skin track, etc.

      Lightweight but sized small

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: medium & large
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 180lbs

After two tries at this jacket, I gave up and went another direction. Sizing on this is really strange. I ordered a medium (which is normally my go-to size with Patagonia) and it was more than fitted -- too tight in the shoulders which isn't good for skiing and lifting my arms just a little bit exposed my belly and back. I returned for a large and it was massively too big -- boxy, and hung off of me. I wore around the block to try it out and was colder than any other puff I own (even my $40 Costco puff is warmer than this thing). There were even threads sticking out when I got it out of the bag. Back it went and I'll try one more Patagonia to see if they can get it right.

My biggest complaint is paying $12 to try on two different jackets. Until this I didn't know Backcountry didn't have an exchange program--just returns. Lesson learned.

      Patagonia Nano Puff Insulated

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 145lbs

I hate bulky jackets, this was perfect for lightweight warmth. It seems to provide good warmth down into the upper 20's as a standalone, works well when layered when even colder. It's my go to winter jacket for most activities now, it's nice enough to wear casually out and flexible enough to wear during vigorous activity. It's also been rather durable for me.

This jacket is amazing. Crazy light, packs down into its own pocket, versatile from the trail to the office, synthetic, and warm. I've worn this as my only warmth layer at 13k feet in the Rockies during some cold spells without being cold at all. You'll also be hard pressed to find a company that does more for the environment and our public lands than Patagonia if you need any other incentive to buy this jacket. Oh, and Patagonia's repair program is legendary if you ever have any issues with your jacket.

      Great jacket!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I purchased this jacket a few months ago and love it! I keep finding opportunities to wear it. Light enough to wear in warmer leather, yet warm enough to wear in colder weather

      Love this jacket

I love this jacket so much that this is my second one. This jacket is a perfect lightweight jacket that keeps me warm without causing me to overheat. It packs down into its own pocket which allows me to take it anywhere.

already have the nano puff hoody, decided to get the jacket too. love this thing and it seems to have a thicker material than the hoody that is a few years old. they're not super tough, but if you're careful with them, there's nothing better. put them under a shell for winter activities. fantastic jacket.

Nothing beats a Nano Puff. Can be worn alone, or as a layering piece. Can be worn as casual piece, or an outdoors go-to. Great warmth to weight, even when wet. Simply the best. Highly recommend. I am 6’1” and 195, and the large fit perfectly.

My boyfriend wears this for nearly every activity from climbing, skiing, camping, etc. It's compatible and light weight which makes it a great item to pack for those long days on your feet. You really can't beat this jacket. He wears a medium and is 5'11'', 170 lbs.

I'm 5'7'' and about 148 lbs with 31.5 waist so what size should I get (I prefer a little loose jacket).
        Thank you!

        Hey Tuan,

At your profile and preference of fit, I would size with a size small on the Nano Puff. It has more of a regular fit to it, so that should pan out quite nicely. Give me a holler if you'd like me to setup an order for you!

How does the warmth of this jacket compare to the traditional Patagonia down sweater jacket? I have the down sweater jacket, and am looking for a lightweight, early spring alternative that can be worn comfortably in 25-45 degree weather?

Is this jacket enough for colder conditions with a layer underneath? Maybe 25 degrees and below? I'm in upstate NY where it can be really chilly!

        Hey Amy,

I am also from Upstate New York (Lake Placid), so I know how you feel about the cold. I would say this Nano Puff would not be warm enough to wear as a stand alone jacket. It's a great mid-layer because it's compact and light - but wearing this jacket in freezing temps wouldn't keep you super warm. Some other jackets you may want to consider: Patagonia Windsweep Down Hooded Jacket , or even: Outdoor Research Incandescent Hooded Down Jacket. Something with more loft and insulation is key for those NY frigid temps.

Let me know if you have any other questions and Happy Holidays!
