Runs small, even for patagonia

I returned this jacket after trying it on a few times. Though I wear Patagonia small in better sweater (I have 2 and love them), the small nano puff was too tight. It was an odd fit, too tight around my sternum/chest and shoulders even though the rest of the jacket fit fine. I tried on a medium in a store later, and that one was definitely too big (jacket arms too long). I ended up purchasing an REI Revelcloud jacket for about half the price, the quality and specs seem similar but of course REI doesn't match Patagonia's superior warranty. I'm disappointed that there is not a size of this jacket that fits my average body type (I mean I'm not a body builder! Never experienced a jacket too tight in the chest.) Just wanted to help inform other potential buyers.

I ordered a Mens Medium for my son who typically wears a Men's Small . . . It fits more like a small. I would suggest ordering 2 sizes up if you are buying for extended wear. My son has ditched his ski jacket and started wearing this instead when skiing. I bought for an everyday coat but he says much more comfortable for skiing.

Coat tag women’s - price tag men’s
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit:
- True to size
I bought this for my husband and the price tag said Men’s M and the tag sewn in the coat says Women’s M. The sleeves and coat fit him so, I assume it’s really a men’s size. Keeping it because it fits and it took so long with shipping delays that I forgot I even ordered it.

Liked the look of the jacket. The body fit ok but the arms are too loose and long with why-bother elastic at the cuffs that is too big to keep the arms from drooping over your hands (pet peeve). Not worth the investment. Returned.

This is my second nano-puff. The first didn't where out, just added another color. The jacket is warm enough for Wisconsin Springs and Falls- but not to hot when you have to wear them indoors like the grocery store. Love them for day to day, family bike rides on chili days or hanging at kids soccer games. With the Medium I can still throw a hoodie under it when needed.

Small arm holes
- Size Bought
- Large
- Height
- 5` 11"
- Weight

This was bought as a replacement for an old Nano Puff Jacket in size large. Size large is the correct size for me, but the arm holes have now been made two inches smaller and constrict under the arm pits. The smaller arm holes make this uncomfortable and unwearable. Patagonia has either made these unfortunate changes that will preclude me from ever buying from them again, or have failed to do the appropriate quality control at their factories. Very disappointing.

Quality jacket, perfect for layering. Would not wear as a true winter coat, but great under a shirt and sweater/shirt jac.

Carbon should be called Evergreen
The Carbon Nanopuff jacket is a very dark green. We expected Carbon to be a variation of grey/black. Love the jacket not the color. Online Chat assistant was super helpful with an exchange in order to get a classic black!

Received wrong color
I ordered my men’s jacket in black and received industrial green. Shipping isn’t as fast as two days as it took almost a week.

I work for a company that uses UPS and MUST get product to our customers next day. UPS is having a lot of COVID related problems. I am sure Backcountry will get back to super fast deliveries when the pandemic subsides.

I was so excited to finally wear it for the first time. Before I left I double checked every pocket for tags and when I stuck my hand in the inside pocket there was a huge hole in the bottom. I expect more from a Patagonia! I will stitch it myself because I dont want to screw with returning it and I am ready to wear it! However, the jacket fits perfectly, I prefer it over the larger down sweater. Its a great everyday jacket that fits perfectly under my shell for cold, snow, rain, or skiing. I see people complaining about its water resistance, but thats not what it is made for. I sprayed some water proofing spray on it in case i get caught out in the rain, but wear a rain jacket if thats your concern!

Find a Patagonia store near you that do repairs. They repair free. I ripped a sleeve on my 6 year old Wanaka Parka and they repaired it no questions asked.

This jacket isn't outright designed to zip into any shells. A good alternative to look at though is the The North Face Thermoball Triclimate Insulated Jacket!

November 21, 2017
Hey Tuan, At your profile and preference of fit, I would size with a size small on the Nano Puff. It has more of a regular fit to it, so that should pan out quite nicely. Give me a holler if you'd like me to setup an order for you!

How does the warmth of this jacket compare to the traditional Patagonia down sweater jacket? I have the down sweater jacket, and am looking for a lightweight, early spring alternative that can be worn comfortably in 25-45 degree weather?
Mikey
Ty Nelson
January 17, 2017
Mikey, The Down Sweater is a little warmer piece than the Nano Puff here. I think you'd be super psyched on this for a spring jacket.
November 25, 2016
Is this jacket enough for colder conditions with a layer underneath? Maybe 25 degrees and below? I'm in upstate NY where it can be really chilly!

November 25, 2016
Hey Amy, I am also from Upstate New York (Lake Placid), so I know how you feel about the cold. I would say this Nano Puff would not be warm enough to wear as a stand alone jacket. It's a great mid-layer because it's compact and light - but wearing this jacket in freezing temps wouldn't keep you super warm. Some other jackets you may want to consider: Patagonia Windsweep Down Hooded Jacket , or even: Outdoor Research Incandescent Hooded Down Jacket. Something with more loft and insulation is key for those NY frigid temps. Let me know if you have any other questions and Happy Holidays!

your 5'9 and 150 you're a medium/large idk why a tall person is wearing small size clothing???. what you're looking for is a slim fit and the nano puff is a regular fit. you seem like the type of guy who is 6ft and want the the most form fitting jacket , i suggest you check out arc'teryx they are known for slim fit sizes for guys like you that want that look.
