Essential gear

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 6'
  • Weight: 190lbs

I have the hoody nano-air light and also a nano-air w/o the hood. For any kind of sustained activity (hiking, climbing, biking) or just sitting around in mild temps, I prefer the light hoody and tend to overhead in the nano. The nano light hoody keeps your chest warm and can optionally protect your head but leaves the back very free to steam for sustained activity. It is light however, so you will want to have another layer if you're going to stand around or deal with wind chill.
I tend to wear this for everything and I've had it on well over a hundred days now. Next time, I'll get black so it won't show grime as much.

Just to cold any wind and you are cold

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Ex large
  • Height: 6'4"
  • Weight: 205lbs

Like wearing long underwear top .. good under a hard shell but just too cold by its self especially at 200 plus

Long Name, Longer List of Positives

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 165lbs

This jacket is definitely the result of multiple years of trial, feedback, material testing, and industry evolution. Here are some things I loved about it:

Pros:
* The cut - fits my slim to average build perfectly. 6 ft, 165 lbs with medium everything. This thing stretches where needed and isn't as boxy as other Patagonia pieces
* The breath-ability - I wore this on a chilly hike in the morning, where my body and the outside temp warmed as I kept moving. This thing did not sweat me out. I was able to unzip it and wear it the entire hike
* The color - Usually a black only kinda guy. Branched out on this and went with the Viking Blue (last season) and got lots of compliments on it!
* The cuffs - Underrated category, but these things kept the heat in without feeling like handcuffs
* Zippers - Moves smoothly and easily. Never snagged .
* Versatility - Read all the other reviews and description. Enough said!

(Temperature) Regulation Is A Good Thing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 6'00"
  • Weight: 150lbs

Patagonia delivers again with breathable insulation for all your active pursuits. Wear on its own for maximum temperature regulation or pair with a shell when things get nasty.

Standard alpine fit - arm length is long, but not too long. Hood can accommodate smaller helmets, but also fits well underneath if needed.

(Temperature) Regulation Is A Good Thing

Very Breathable - for high intensity fun

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 174lbs

I climbed Mt. Rainier without this jacket and learned how important and difficult it can be when your mid-layer doesn't breath well. I overheated profusely. This is one of the jackets recommended by RMI Adventures for mountain climbing. Now that I've worn it I can see why. The back and underarm fabric breaths very freely but the front fabric is tigher weave for moderate wind protection. I'm quite certain it will be my goto jacket for high activity outdoor fun. Be prepared for an outer layer for the specific elements you face that can rapidly change.

Lightweight and Breatheable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 165lbs

This is a sweet jacket, keeps your core warm while letting airflow through. The back stretch panel makes it an awesome breathable midlayer for winter sports and it's stretchy enough to not constrict any movement.

Perfect Midlayers

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Weight: 195lbs

I run really warm and am always finding I am soaking through most midlayers. Then I bought this. This thing is perfect. It breathes extremely well, and still blocks headwinds. With the back materials, you can definitely feel some drafts coming in, but that is far out weighted by the breath-ability. This thing goes with me on almost every skin track.
