Powder Bowl Insulated Pant

Everyone knows that the snow is the lightest and the turns are sweetest when winter is through messing around and gets down to some serious cold weather. Patagonia certainly knows, and proves it with the Men's Insulated Powder Bowl Pant. Constructed from breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex material, this ski pant can handle anything nature throws your way. Strategically placed 60g Thermogreen insulation cuts the chill to keep you warm and comfortable through the biting cold.

Reinforced kick patches at the ankles fight off attacks from sharp ski edges. Articulated knees and a gusseted crotch provide a fit that moves with you while you hike or ski. Gaiters help keep snow out of your boots, while a webbing loop on the rear yoke securely attaches the pants to the powder skirt on any compatible Patagonia snow jacket. Plus, zippered thigh vents make it easy to dump heat after a strenuous ascent.

  • Insulated hardshell pants for storm days on the mountain
  • Gore-Tex ensures waterproof and breathable performance
  • Synthetic insulation provides reliable warmth in wet weather
  • Articulated knees offer unrestricted mobility while you ski
  • Ankle gaiters keep the powder from creeping into your pants
  • Watertight zippers lock out any sneaking moisture
  • Slim fit gives you low-bulk convenience on the slopes
  • Item #PAT02LU

Great pants - poor durability

I'm a long time Patagonia customer, bought my first fleece pullover in about 1981, and I still have it. I've had several pair of Patagonia ski pants over the decades, and normally they've been great. These Powder Bowl pants though, while comfortable, warm and functional, are not going to be durable. After only three days skiing, the inside cuffs have already been sliced through in several places by my opposite ski edges. Not a good sign for overall durability, so I'm going to return them, either to Backcountry or to Patagonia directly. I hope it's not a sign of shortcuts in quality or materials, but I think in this case it is.

I bought these for myself last summer and finally got a chance to put them to the test on my annual ski trip. Simply put, it snowed 109” of snow in 7 days and I was warm skiing powder at Wolf Creek in Colorado. I’m a female, I’m 5’3” 125bls and bought the men’s medium regular length which is 32” inseam . They where a little long, but we’re not when I had my Soren’s or ski boots on. I got men’s medium because I needed extra leg room for my DonJoy Custom knee brace. Which the women size didn’t give me. I was very impressed on how well they held up in the chest deep powder. Also had my Patagonia Powder Bowl Jacket on as well. I’m Always cold by nature, even in the Texas hot summer my foot are cold. I’ve tried all kinds of ski jackets and pants and never could find ones that would keep me warm until I tried Patagonia Powder Bowl line. I’m a happy skier now. I’m not cold nor was I to hot, I was prefect warm and as long as my bad knee could take it, I skied all day long, for 7 day straight. Gear still looks brand new. As long as Patagonia keeps their Powder Bowl line, I’ll keep buying it. Already thinking of buying another pair of pants and jacket just to have 2 different sets, to have a choice of which ones I want to wear or even mix it up a little.

Got these as a gift for my brother in law. His words: " These pants are pretty awesome. Been on the mountain at least a dozen times so far this season and can't say that my legs have ever been cold. They are great in terms of being waterproof and I'd recommend these to anyone spending lots of time skiing/snowboarding. Side note, I am about 6'0 190 and I wound up getting a large. I have to make the velcro inside belt as tight as possible so the pants so they stay on. Medium probably would have been better for me."

Second time buying these pants. This pant is just as good as my original set. These pants seem to hold up well, fit well, and perform well. My original set repelled water without any washes or treatments for well into the second season; Gortex doing its job! Insulation is substantial and welcome versus the "shell" pants. Glad to see Patagonia kept the mesh in the vents (unlike the Powder Bowl Jacket). I do wish the zipper pulls were a bit more substantial though. The knotted string is a bit hard to grab compared to the rubber ended strings on the older model.
