Micro Puff Insulated Jacket
The best warmth to weight jacket Patagonia has ever created, the Women's Micro Puff Insulated Jacket perfectly blends a super-lightweight shell with soft, compressible PlumaFill insulation to make it both an ideal insulating layer and a cozy outer layer. Windproof and water-resistant, the lightweight Pertex Quantum shell keeps you protected from the elements as you make your way down the mountain, while PlumaFill insulation maintains its heat-trapping loft, even after getting wet and abused through seasons of use. Its innovative quilting construction complements the insulation by stabilizing and maximizing the loft of the down-like PlumaFill strands with minimal stitching, and the center-front zipper has a wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage at the chin for baby-soft comfort and minimal chafing. Add on the stowaway left hand pocket, and this jacket is guaranteed to be your go-to for ambitious outdoor excursions and routine trips around town alike.
- Insanely lightweight and warm insulated jacket for the outdoors

Actually XMAS present for my wife. Since then she has worn it non-stop - hiking, walking with a weight vest, shopping, running errands, and everything in-between. She likes the fit. Bought up 1 size to have room for a sweater in colder temps. Thanks, Patagonia/ Back Country. Perfect gift.

When they describe this as insanely lightweight they are NOT kidding!! I was so shocked when I got it at how light it was, and the warmth you get for the weight is crazy. I wear a Patagonia wind shell over it on days with harsher weather and i'm always toasty even in the Utah cold. Would highly recommend!

Love it

I'm really excited for how versatile this jacket is. I've worn it as a stand alone piece for running errands, walking the pup, some light touring on a moderately warm day (think temperatures in the 30s) and as a layering piece for inbound resort play when the temperatures were in the mid teens. It holds up to the challenge, keeps me warm, never feels bulky under a shell and is just a great addition. I love how lightweight it is as well, as it will likely replace my down jacket for backpacking adventures next summer. I am a bit, um, gifted in the chest area naturally (32DDD) so I had to opt into an XL to get it to zip comfortably on me. It's a touch baggy in other areas of my body, but overall happy with the fit and that it zips up! Ladies, if you have a larger chest, you understand this pain.

This is a great overall jacket for the cold Fall/Winter breeze that's coming through Utah right now. It's super lightweight which make it easy to travel with and I really like the Grey color on me. I would recommend this jacket for someone who is looking for a good casual jacket for not too snowy weather but good for the cold winds. Can't wait to wear this jacket everyday! Pray for some snowwww!

Was very excited to put this jacket on until - I zipped it all the way up. It felt like I was being choked by the extremely high neck line and the zipper felt a wee bit scratchy there. I do have a somewhat long neck and this was too constricting. This was going to be used in my Gortex shell for snowboarding.

Bought this item for mother's day.. it's super light and well insulated. The stitching might be an issue if you're going hardcore without an outside shell, but for normal midlayer use, should be perfect.

I purchased a medium in arrow red for my mother. This jacket fits great and is incredibly light. Perfect by itself or layered under another jacket or over a pullover. At around 7 ounces it's like you're not even wearing a jacket. Water resistance makes it a very versatile layer.

Been wearing this as mid layer for skiing and hiking around 20F weather and as a main jacket for 30F with some sweaters under. It's so light but incredibly warm. I sized up thinking I'd wear many layers under, but turns out the jacket itself kept me so warm that I never had to wear a lot of layers with it. I wish I bought my regular size.

No lining, so tiny holes everywhere!

I have a lot of Patagonia, and this isn't one of the finer items. I LOVE the idea of this jacket, but the execution is poor. Mostly, there is no lining at all, so every single stitch has essentially a tiny hole. And these are holes that are big enough to see through when you hold it up to the light. If this jacket had a lining, it would be perfect, but those holes are something really weird. Also fit a bit large in shoulders, small in hips.

This is the perfect amount of insulation for skiing and hiking on cold, cold days. If it's too warm outside, I'll work up a sweat in this. But, if it's cold, it's perfect. According to the size chart, the sizing is spot on for me in size small. But considering that I'm more of a medium sized person, I'd say this runs bigger than other brands. I'm a shmedium, but usually more of a medium. The small is a good fit for me.

Solid jacket

This jacket is such a good combo of being lightweight and pack-able, but also keeps you warm. It packs into it's own pocket and is about the size of a water bottle when packed down. Super lightweight packing it and wearing it but still gives you comfort and warmth, easy to move/hike in and an all around solid jacket. Solid piece for an outer layer or being the only layer you have on, it'll keep the cold out.

I love this jacket SO much. I got it last week and have worn it every day since. I first had the Nanopuff, but I liked this fit a little more as well as the look. It's light and super warm. I wore it in Yellowstone last weekend in about 38 degree weather + snow and was kept pretty warm!

This is a great layering piece for winter or a lighter jacket to wear on cooler mornings. I also love how pack-able the puff jackets are from Patagonia. Easy for packing on a trip and does not weight your bag down but provides a lot of warmth! Also, the color options are on point! I purchased the Arrow Red. It will be one of my go to jackets for this fall.

I may have raved about this jacket after climbing a 14er this summer with summit & ridge winds and requisite snow showers on the way down....or after January skiing as a layer under down ski jacket because I am always cold...but now just made it through wicked polar vortex and lived in this jacket which kept my core warm. It also doesn't hold odors like the nano puff did, and breathes significantly better. It is the best.

Bought one for me and one for my wife. Owning several down jackets each (Patagucci, TNF etc.,) this seam to be similar in weight, warmth, packability and no worries about a little moisture ruining the day. Fit is perfect for my wife. I'd have a perfect fit if they had something between a medium and large but the large will suffice.

I cannot believe how warm this is. It is really thin and light, so you wouldn't think it would be warm. I wore this in 20/30 degree weather with a bitter wind and I stayed perfectly comfortable. As for the fit, I think it depends on your preference. I could wear the small, it fits me perfectly, but I think if I wore a couple thick layers under it wouldn't have fit as well. It was a little tight in my armpits. The medium is perfect for me. I could wear a couple layers underneath and it's fine.

This jacket is quite warm without being bulky. I have used it for cold weather (30 degrees) mountain biking an was very pleased. It was water repelent enough to keep me dry for my 2 hour ride in light rain/snow. It has enough room to layer underneath. I love the elastic sleeve and soft fabric.

This jacket, underneath a shell or insulated ski jacket would work fine for alpine skiing, it is a midweight layer.

How does this compare to the down sweater full zip? They look the same, and seem to have the same qualities...

November 20, 2018
Hey Ashley! The main difference between this and the Down Sweater is this one is a synthetic insulation jacket and the Down Sweater is down insulation! Down insulation will be lighter and more packable, but synthetic will still retain warmth even if it gets wet whereas down insulation will not retain warmth when wet!

I absolutely love your (personal) sizing of "shmedium". I believe that is what my mom is
