For the girl who is ALWAYS cold

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
Runs large

Extra Small

I recently purchased this parka after trying to survive the last 3 months of winter in Utah with little success. The baffling is discrete so the jacket doesn't have your typical down "puffy" look. The muted olive green is beautiful neutral addition to any wardrobe. I'm really glad I went with the Extra Small considering the length of the coat. At 5'5" it hits just above the knee on me, any longer wouldn't be favorable.

This jacket is very warm and has enough room to layer underneath it. No longer worry about being cold no matter how you choose to use it.

Adding yet another Patagonia puffy to my collection. As always, I love the fit and it leaves room for a few layers underneath. Also really like that it's a matte finish, rather than shiny. The only reason I gave it 4 stars: I wish it was just a little shorter.

Love the jacket - hate the zipper!

I received the jacket as a gift in mid Feb and loved it (very warm, comfortable, TTS). However, I was super disappointed when the zipper broke within 6 weeks of having it. Backcountry customer service is awesome, though and they're letting me return the defective jacket for a replacement. Fingers crossed this one doesn't have any zipper trouble!!!

I need deeper pockets to keep my mittens, wallet, keys, and toddler stuff (socks, snacks, tissues, etc). Just putting in one mitten made a huge bulge and I couldn't fit anything else. Otherwise, a beautiful warm coat, but will be returning.

Expensive, but worth it. This coat has kept me toasty in negative temperatures. It isn’t a bulky coat which is nice and there is room to wear layers underneath if you want. The only downside is the length of the coat hits me right at the bottom of my knee (5’4”). I love the length but where it hits on my body makes it hard to sit down sometimes, but I just pull the coat up a little before I sit so I can bend my knees easily. Other than that, I highly recommend this coat and supporting Patagonia as a company too!

The coat I've been searching for

I have a couple of Patagonia down jackets, not coats, for when I am active, but wanted a coat for city days etc. I have tried on multiple coats from both Patagonia and The North Face, but found that my usual size did not allow arm movement, and that a size up would swim on me at the waist and hips. I called Patagonia for advice, and they recommended this coat, saying that the line is flattering--it is--and has a more regular fit that some of the others. Backcountry was the only online retailer that had it in Industrial Green, and I wanted to strike out from the black coat look I feel I've been sporting for way too long. I love this coat. It allows free arm movement, but has a long slimming line. I have already received many compliments. It keeps me toasty, and having an attached hood means that head protection is always available. I particularly like the construction of Patagonia hoods, since they adjust very well to fit and stay on in windy conditions, and keep the snow out of your eyes. The 2-way zipper is a little touchy if you want to unzip the bottom for driving etc, but after you get used to making sure you have exactly lined it up, it works just fine. The outside, hand warmer pockets are in just the right place. The inside pocket is big enough to fit my plus size iPhone, though I do wish manufacturers would give women's clothes more inside pockets so we don't have to carry our world on one shoulder. There is a soft inner cuff on the sleeves to keep the cold air out. I like that it has more water repellency than most down coats, and that the bonded, not stitched, quilt lines avoid the Michelin Man look. I am 5'7" and it is knee-length for me.

This jacket is super warm and squishy - it's definitely comfortable and would certianly keep me warm in the snowy mountains of Utah. I do wish it was a little more tapered at the waist though! It's so warm and puffy that i would not need to wear any jackets or layers underneath (other than a basic long sleeve) so the jacket was just way too big. I'm normally a small/medium just depending on use and brand, but I would probably need an XS in this to actually have it fit snug around my waist but i'd be worried that my arm movement would be too restricted at that point. Overall, i think this is another Patagonia parka where you just have to have a very specific body type, or no matter the size, it's just not going to work for you.

We live in the mountains of Utah and it can get COLD. Got this for my wife to have a longer down coat and man is it warm!! She wears it on those cold mornings taking the kids to school. Highly recommend. Good strong quality too.
