    Sleek urban protection.

Shed off the chill of your urban winter commutes in the Patagonia Jackson Glacier Parka. Lofty recycled down in bonded down channels offers efficient, lightweight warmth as you wait for the bus in the cold while the windproof face fabric blocks the wind tunneling through sky-scrapers as you make your way to the office. A DWR treatment repels the moisture from snowflakes as they melt to droplets to keep the down insulation dry so it can continue to keep you warm as you make your way around the city.

For additional warmth, the Jackson is equipped with a few extra features when the weather is trying its best to drive you inside. For example, the 2-way center-front zipper has a zipper garage that protects the zipper to further maximize the weather defenses of the parka in an otherwise weak spot that gusts or moisture could get in through. The streamlined fit of the parka keeps the down closer to your body to trap heat more efficiently and the thigh length offers extra inches of protection from moisture and gusts. Finally, the hand pockets are lined with ultra-soft brushed jersey to keep your fingers warm when you forget the gloves and the removable hood is insulated and has adjustment cords that cinch down for protective warmth on particularly chilly commutes.

    • Sophisticated parka for warmth and protection in urban winters
    • Windproof shell protects from bitter gusts when commuting
    • DWR treatment repels light moisture for dry comfort in snow fall
    • 700-down fill insulation provides lightweight warmth for cold days

    • Insulated hood is removable for weather condition versatility
    • 2-way center front zipper has garage to maximize weather defenses
    • Patagonia uses eco-conscious materials in all its products

    Very Nice Parka

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 112lbs

    From my husband:
This is the down parka I've been waiting for; stylish, very warm, perfect length, and great color (Navy). It's the perfect compliment for the cold winter Park City mornings. The only beef I have with this jacket is the hood. It's warm and insulated but the bill on the front is pretty annoying -- hence the 4 star review. The fit is a little bulky but that was my expectation. I'm 6'3

    Simple, stylish and extremely functional

    *1 MONTH UPDATE*

Alright -- here's the deal...this coat is awesome from an overall warmth standpoint. With a fleece underneath you can wear this into the teens without an issue. A t-shirt underneath in the 20's/30's & you'll still be plenty warm.

I love this coat but I've already had it replaced by Patagonia due to fraying/pilling/deteriorating fabric underneath the arms from wearing a backpack on a handful of occasions. The nylon strap from the bag was going to destroy the coat before the season was over. This was disappointing considering it only took a month for this damage to become really obvious. Hats off to Patagonia for replacing it no questions asked....just be mindful if you're a commuter/student. I chose this jacket for my 2 mile walk to work and decided to switch to a backpack from a messenger bag after...it looks like it's back to the drawing board on what to carry my stuff in!

    ---------------

I’m really glad I found this coat. I had been looking at all the big brands and some of the more, over priced “name value” brands and kept coming back to this coat. The length is absolutely perfect, it’s cut a little longer in the rear all the way to a bit below mid thigh.

It is a perfectly trim fit and hugs the body nicely. The cuff in the sleeves is very snug and keeps the cold out. The hood is insulated and snug - I think you could get away without hats on most days, it’s that warm. Lower pockets are very warm as well, my hands were sweating within a few minutes.

I think this coat is capable of handing most us cities winters without issue. I walked around in the lower 30s with just a T-shirt underneath and was fully unzipped by the time I was 20 minutes in. I think with a good base layer it’ll handle pretty much anything.

    Excellent parka: great looks/performance

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Thie parka is very warm (I've used it down to around 0F so far) but also looks quite sharp, with what I would call a bit more "socially acceptable" look. Previously I used to wear a bright orange Fitzroy parka around town...that one is just as warm or warmer (and lighter) but is extremely loud. Back to performance, though: the Jackson parka is much longer, coming down to mid thigh and also has a thicker/more durable shell. This one will definitely hold up to a lot more regular wear abuse, and I will save my Fitzroy for climbing pursuits when counting grams is more important. I recently discovered that my Jackson parka will fit over a suit jacket no problem, so now I'm using it as my overcoat even on more formal occasions: it's just too warm and cozy to leave home.

    Great Commuter Parka

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Amazing coat. Perfect for from completely freezing to 50s. Deep pockets are helpful for walking in the brisk cold. The hood is also very helpful in protecting from snow and keep you nice and warm. You can also wear this in casual up to semi-formal settings and it looks nice

What's the warmest--or best--parka: this or the city storm parka, or the arcteryx therme?
