We actually have two of these--purchased a grey one for our middle kid (girl) two years ago. She loved it, and it's now our youngest's (a boy). (We try to steer clear of super-gendered stuff for both aesthetic and utilitarian reasons). It's been fantastic for everything from sledding to visiting NYC to skiing. Still looks new. Based on how much we liked the first one, we just bought this olive olive one for our oldest (a girl), and plan on having it passed down to the other two over time. These sure don't look as warm as a the Fjallraven down parka our middle child is currently wearing, but the kids with these on never complain of being cold, so I'd say it's certainly warm enough for mid-Atlantic winters--our kids have spent hours outside in the 20s, with zero compaints. I suspect this might not be enough coat if negative temperatures are just life for several months every year where you live. Machine washable, tumble dry. Love it. And, no I am not 4'3" tall--dimensions below are my daughter's. . . we wanted her to have some room to grow, and the M was perfect.
