    not for me :(

    • Fit: Runs small

I tried these in both a 10 and a 12 hoping one would fit my large thighs well. the 10 fit well in the waist but snug on the thighs. great fabric and would be extremely comfortable but even the 12 was tighter in the thighs than i would prefer. I wound up purchasing the Outdoor Research "Coralie" pant instead.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 6P

Bought for the GF - thought she would like these and she did! Ordered the 6P - she said "roomy in the waist but were still an inch or so too long though not a deal breaker". These pants are great for year-round use in FL.

    Comfy but long

These pants are great and easy to wear but do know they are a bit long. I had to take mine up 2in.

    Haven't taken them off yet

...I've worn these everyday since I got them. I'm 5/11, so was pleasantly surprised the regular length was long enough - touches the tops of my feet! I tried on an 8, which looked nice, but felt like I had a wedgie, so I went with the 10 :)

    Divinely Luxurious.

Reader's Digest Version: In sum, wearing these is like going on a tropical vacation, but without ever leaving your work desk, back patio, or house - for that matter.

Non-Reader's Digest Version: I've long loved the look of linen or linen-y pants, but I really dislike the fact that the fabric often creases like crazy. Simply from an aesthetics stand point, it drives me nuts! However, with the Island Hemp Pants, you get the same kind of look (as you would) if you were wearing a pair of linen pants, but without the material crevasses. And, to be quite frank, I think the hemp material that Patagonia uses is much more lightweight and breathable in constitution than your conventional linen. It's really quite a lovely wearing experience.

In terms of fit, I own a size 0 and the pant fits perfectly in the waist - not too tight and not too loose. For size reference, I wear a 24 in J.Crew and Madewell, 24 in Patagonia's cords, and 25 in the Patagonia denim. I'd venture to say that the waist is a true mid-rise, though, I'm short so everything is mid-to-high rise on me. I did go with the regular inseam, which is just a shade long, so I just up-cuffed the pant at the hem and did a few running stitches to keep in place. I was wary of the short inseam, simply because I didn't want the pant hitting at my ankle like a pair of high waters. Also, the pant definitely features a trouser-inspired fit, which lends a beachy feel.

All in all, these vacation-inspired pants are work or outing appropriate, floaty, comfortable, and lightweight. I'm preeettyyy much in love. Often pair the pants with my women's A/C short-sleeve shirt and it's a killer combo for combating hot temperatures!
