Why We Like The Hi-Loft Hooded Down Sweater Jacket

We shrug off cold and biting temps with help from the Patagonia Hi-Loft Down Sweater Jacket. Thermal efficiency is the name of the game when we're hunkered down at altitude, and with a generous dose of high loft 600-fill goose down, this jacket insulates our core so we stay toasty when winter weather would have it otherwise. We count on the recycled ripstop fabric to put up with a bit of abuse, while the DWR coating sheds moisture in light snow flurries. In classic Patagonia fashion, this jacket is insulated with traceable down so we can rest assured that no geese were force-fed or live-plucked to make this jacket.

Not as Warm as Expected

Really wanted to like this jacket, it is a high quality jacket with all the features you expect from Patagonia. Loved the color and I tend to be 'zipper' challenged' often seem to have problems with zippers and thought the zipper was fine even though others mentioned it in their reviews. My only issue was that this wasn't a warm jacket, my Patagonia down sweater seems to be warmer. I kept putting it on and going outside and then would come back in and put my Patagonia down sweater on and go outside then put on a North Face down jacket with down fill and compare it outside. I don't know if there was just poor quality down in the jacket or there just wasn't enough fill. I did notice the sleeves aren't ant loftier than my down sweater. Also, just an observation but I'm kind of past having bright labels on the front of the jackets stating the brand, something more subdued would work better for me. Sizing was perfect.

Warm jacket for how light it is

Was a bit skeptical about this coat when I first got it in the mail but felt really warm when I took it out to sub-zero temperatures. My only complaint is the sleeves run a little small compared to the rest of the jackets fit but I?m also tall which could play a part.

This coat isn?t worth $50.00. We pay over 300.00 for this coat and it so thin that their is no way it would keep you warm. I am not the one it give any business a bad rating?but this time I did. I tried to call the company ( Back Country), but with no response. I will never EVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. LYNN FOR NEWPORT, TN

I acquired this jacket instead of the Patagonia Down Sweater because all research indicated this would be a bit warmer. I like the fact that it?s made out of all recycled materials, and it?s very comfortable and very warm. I?m 6? 1?, 195 pounds and the extra large fits me just fine. Everything about this jacket is great except the outer fabric is somewhat fragile. (Thus 4 stars) It will not last with frequent abrasion. If you need to bushwhack or if you might fall while skiing/boarding, wear shell over it for the fabric?s protection. At times I will layer a hooded Patagonia Nanopuff underneath it. The two are a great tandem together. Along with a shell this system is so versatile and bombproof!
