I usually get very cold but with this jacket I find my self pushing the sleeves up or unzipping it. So soft inside and out with large pockets, that don't zip though so be careful. Great jacket, highly recommend.

The fabric is wonderfully soft as the other reviews attest to, but the sleeves were too short for a proper fit - I'm 5'9" and the Better Sweater/medium covers my wrists, where the Re-Tool was a few inches up from that. I exchanged it to try the large and still the sleeves were barely long enough. The body size was true, but the arms may not be sufficient length if you're taller. Loved the feel of the fabric but ultimately returned due to the sleeve length.

It is very soft and comfortable, but the zipper and the material underneath it shrinks so badly after one wash! And size runs small for my neck and shoulders. I am 5’4” and 106 lbs.

Wonderful Fleece

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought for my wife, here is her feedback "As an owner of a patagonia retool pullover, I'd say that this is a nice, warm fleece jacket. It doesn't seem quite as soft as my pullover, which is from about 9 years ago, so the design might have changed slightly. They grey and teal go really well together, and I like that the collar zips up high. If you could only have one, I would say go with the pullover because it is just the comfiest fleece you will ever have, but the zip up is nice too. "

Nice classic look, and the fit is very flattering. I love to wear this out on its own or under another jacket for warmth,, but it's also so comfortable I often throw it on in the morning to wear around the house. Perfect addition to any wardrobe and great crossover for fall, winter, and spring in the East. A real favorite!

This is a great sweater!! Very comfortable and fits very well. More form fitting than a regular t-shirt. The chest pocket is a little awkward. I wish the collar came up just a little bit longer.

My wife has a few re-tool pullovers and she recently received this zip for Christmas. She said she loves this jacket. So cozy and warm and easy to throw on. If you are debating between the pullover and zip she says go pullover but really just get both -- she gives it 5 stars.

This is my new go to jacket and haven't taken it off since I received it. It was surprisingly warm and I find myself grabbing for a t-shirt and this jacket in 20-40 degree weather. It stands up against the wind and when the chill factor is high I just throw on a vest for perfect comfort. It can be a little warm for indoors or anything over 50. My only complaint is that the arms are a little short, hitting just above my wrist bone, to be fair, I have very long arms.

I absolutely ADORE my fleece. It is the first Patagonia piece I've ever owned and it's been the best. I truly enjoy everything about it. It's light weight, yet its warm. I get so many compliments on it. I definitely recommend getting this pullover. In fact, I'd even go as far as to buy another one!

Re Tool Fleece Jacket

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriends Mom, and she loves it! She lives in Buffalo, and it gets COLD there, she just wanted something soft and warm to wear all winter long. It's also the perfect layering piece to throw on over a flannel during the fall months. A patagonia fleece is a closet staple - timeless, classic & cool.

I ordered this as a replacement to an old fleece jacket and love the color (white) and the comfort of this piece. I have taken this with me to the mountain skiing (under a shell), the beach bonfire (it always cools down more than you think it will) and camping in the red rocks. It is so versatile, I rarely leave home without it. Would strongly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their go-to fleece.

I own the re-tool in both the jacket and the pullover. They are both fantastic. As I said about the pullover version, I live in this fleece. It's a great all around piece that I use (and love) for just about everything. It pairs well under a microdown and ski shell for colder days on the hill. I'm constantly reaching for it when I am at home lounging, apres ski/bike, or anytime I am chilled. I might even love it just as much in the summer months for camping trips or over shorts when the sun goes down. The zip jacket has the added benefit of being even a little more versatile for running around town too. You know how fleece tends to pill up after multiple wears and washes? This fleece doesn't do that! It looks (and feels) the pretty much the same as it did when I bought it. The only caution I would offer is that because of the way the material is constructed, the wind will cut right through it so for cold and windy outside days it will work better as an "insulator" piece.

I love this fleece - it's really soft and cozy, and a great layering piece. I wear this as a jacket on non-windy days (only downside - the thick pile contributes to the wind going straight through it), and layer it under a puffy if it's really frigid outside. I wore this under my shell skiing once when I didn't have my normal midlayer with me, and it performed really well as a tech-y piece too. The iron/dark currant color has also gotten quite a few compliments. Pretty rad!

Bought this jacket for my wife who is cold most of the time. She prefers this jacket to other TNF jackets she owns. It fits well and is great in low temps as long as its not windy. Great for layering as well.

Purchased the Teal Green this fall. It is roomier than expected. A boxy style that makes layering easy. Sleeves are a little long but provide good coverage for cold days.

My Re-tool Full Zip

I love the jacket. I always get compliments on the color. I got it in bayberry bordeaux. It looks very feminine against dark hair. My only problem with the jacket is that the sleeve openings are too wide. I ended up safety pinning them so that they can be more fitting around my wrists. They are advertised as being "slim fit". I honestly did not think it was all that slim fitting. I found my mountain hardware jackets to be more slim fitting. I felt as though this jacket makes me look wider than what I really am. I am 5'2 105lbs. I ordered it in a small. Maybe I should have just ordered an XS. Overall, the jacket is a good buy. I just wish that it was advertised as being a "regular fit". I would have just purchased another jacket instead.

pretty fabric-but bulky hems

Returned it....didn't like the bulky sleeve & bottom hems. Lovely soft fabric--but the hems destroyed the slim fit.

warm and soft

I tried this on in the store just for kicks, and fell in love. This jacket reminds me of the Patagonia Synchilla snap-t's that I had long time ago, except these are much softer, and much warmer. I have since bought another one so that I don't have to go without if one is in the wash. You see, I'm into the whole "new wool" thing. Pretty much all insulation pieces I own are made of merino wool. While wool regulates body temp really well, they are not too warm on the occasions when lots of warmth really matters, such as sitting in the cool office all day, and working at home at night. No matter how many layers of merino sweater/long undies (within reason of course) I wear, I'm always cold. With this jacket, I only have to wear a s/s t-shirt underneath, and set the thermostat in the house to 67, I immediately warm up. Even my hands stay warm. They are also soooo soft on the inside. I've washed each of my 2 jackets twice, and they haven't shed, and hopefully won't for a long time. As for colors, the red and the green ones are gorgeous.
