    For the north country.

Hans and Franz both agree that you should pack the Patagonia Men’s Fjord Flannel Shirt into your carry-on. Its fricking cold where you’re headed, and if you want to keep those nips toasty, you'd better be wearing this heavyweight flannel shirt. Not to mention, it also doubles as a light jacket on those bluebird spring days in the mountains.

    • A heavyweight organic flannel for cool weather wear
    • Button-down design with two flap chest pockets
    • Relaxed fit is roomier through the body and sleeves
    • Patagonia is committed to producing sustainable outdoor goods

    Flannel of the Gods

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 185lbs

This flannel is such a staple for me. As others have stated very soft and thick. Depending on what I am dealing with, I can easily where this above freezing temperatures with a t-shirt underneath and be fine most of the time. I liked it so much got a second one. had them both for a couple of years now. The sleeves and length of the shirt can be a little long depending on your height. 5'11 with medium is just right for me especially because I usually roll the sleeves up anyways. Pockets are solid and so far none of the stitching for the buttons have loosened up. Would highly recommend if you a looking for a flannel.

    Super great!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'2"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I bought these as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves them! The flannel is super thick and durable, and so soft!

    Great flannel!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: S
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Got it today and probably will wear it for a while. Definitely runs large on me so normally buy medium but got a small. If you’re on the fence between this one and the lightweight there’s a big gap between them. This one is not as heavy as you would think so definitely go for the normal one!

    Favorite Flannel

Every dude needs a good thick flannel and this is it. It's a winter essential and can be worn with anything. Patagonia hits a homerun with this one every time.

    First Class Flannel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 177lbs

This is my first Patagonia flannel and i'm kicking myself i didn't get it earlier! Previous flannels i've owned have torn and generally not manufactured to the standard of the Fjord. Highly recommend this flannel well made and toasty.

In relation to sizing the medium is perfect, and is consistent sizing with other Patagonia M's i've purchased i.e. Wanaka jacket, large would be a too big.

    Fjord Days!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 5'8"

Who doesn't love this flannel? I mean seriously, look at the number of five star reviews. Don't think twice, own several different colors and get your fjord on! Love it. Does run a half size or so large though so size down and enjoy. Your welcome!

    Great Flannel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I wear this very frequently. It is extremely soft. I am 6ft 180 ish and a medium fits great after a wash. Its a little boxy and not slim fit at all so if that's what you want id recommend going smaller. Other than that, definitely worth the money and built to last. Ive washed it probably 12 15 times and its still just as nice as out of the bag.

Never Can Go Wrong With a Fjord Flannel

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I buy these flannel shirts for my guy and he loves them. True to size as he wears size large in men's shirts. He has a longer torso and these are the perfect length for him (height 6'2"). They also don't shrink like a lot of other flannels tend to do. They're a thicker weight which is great for Northern Minnesota winters. And as a lot of Patagonia products go - it's pricey, but they hold up for a long time.

    My favorite shirt

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 250lbs

There’s multiple reasons to buy this. One is the lifetime warranty. Two is the quality of the shirt. Three I can’t count that high so I’m gonna stick with one and two. You’d be hard pressed to find a better quality flannel. It’s perfect. I usually pick up a least one if not two every season for some diversity.

Top Notch flannel from Pattaguci! Love the colors/patterns they offer and the fabric is very soft and comfortable. It does run big so I would suggest sizing down one size.

    Don't buy this flannel shirt...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 210lbs

Seriously...don't buy this flannel shirt. It will literally ruin any other flannel you've ever owned or will ever own. Trust me, I wish a $40 flannel would suffice, but they all pale in comparison now that I've donned this apparel. This is the best flannel I own by far. My parents got me one for Christmas and I both hate and love them for it because now I need to spend $89 for this perfectly soft and durable piece. I bought two more not long after because they are incredible. It runs ever so slightly large but I find it shrank slightly upon washing to be the perfect fit for me.

    THE flannel shirt

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I've spent my life in either upstate New York or New England, where you're just as likely to see flannel shirts worn as formalwear as workwear. I've owned flannels from everyone, from the expected (LL Bean, Eddie Bauer) to the unexpected (J. Crew, American Eagle). But if my Fjord is clean--or even if it's not--this is the one I reach for first.

It's warm, it's soft, it's heavy-duty. It means business. I wear it on its own, or layer it under a wool sweater on wicked cold days. Sometimes I'll also layer under it with a thermal top. The fit is a little generous, so it allows layering, but you'll never look like you're wearing a tablecloth. I'm about 5'6", 125 lbs, and small fits just great. Sleeves are maybe a touch short, but I roll them up anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the definitive flannel shirt, and one that any lumberjack (or jill) would be proud to own. Get two, so you can still wear one when the other's in the wash.

    It's a winner!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

The other reviews have said it all. Wears well, fits great, and is a warm blanket that likes you just as much as you like it. You can't go wrong with this one.

    The Patagucci Flannel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 150lbs

I love this flannel so much the fabric is soft warm and cozy I want to live in it. The product fit was perfect I bought a medium and the fit is perfect.

    Excellent winter flannel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I purchased the navy blue in a medium and the fit is great. I'm not a fan of the flat bottom shirts, so I have my professional tailor (mom) cut a shirt tail hem at the bottom (I think that's what you call it) to add a bit of style. Love the double pockets, looks fantastic, feels about as soft as a flannel can feel. Here's the kicker, I'm 6'2 between 195-200lbs with most of the weight in my legs (and maybe a slight beer gut) but I'm very athletic and active, and I fall into this weird category of mediums being the right width but too short, and larges being the right length but too boxy. Well this shirt in a medium fits me great. Finally a medium with long sleeves that fits like a fitted shirt should fit. Say that five times fast. I tried the basin & range flannel, which has excellent material and such, but the arms are too short in the medium and it's even a little boxy. I'll be purchasing this Fjord in a different color and shipping directly to mom for a custom cut.

    Unanswered Question

What is the the color that is in the pics with the fisherman?

For a guy who is 6'2 and around 150-160 pounds, reading that shrinks once in the dryer, should I get a L or M?

    Hey Andrea,

I am 6'2", 185 lbs. and have multiple Patagonia Flannels in Medium that are made of cotton and the shrinkage is pretty minimal. I would recommend a Medium for you as well in the Fjord Flannel Shirt. Feel free to shoot me any additional questions directly about anything Patagonia.
