    Are you down with it?

The Patagonia Women's Down With It Parka digs warm times in cold cities. Down insulation gives the jacket a toasty feel with lightweight loft, and you can trace the jacket's down back to birds that were never force-fed or live-plucked. Patagonia treated the recycled polyester shell with a DWR finish to shield you from snow and light precipitation. A hood provides additional protection when the wind begins to blow, and can be removed for a more streamlined look on calm days. Zippered hand pockets let you keep your phone and gloves secure when you pop into your local coffee shop for a warm drink. With a longer cut, the Down With It Parka keeps you warm from your head to your knees as you enjoy the season.

    Great coat!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: m
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I bought this for my daughter, who attends University of Vermont, for walking around campus/Burlington in the frigid winter. She loves the coat, and says it is very comfortable, long enough to protect her whole body (to mid thigh...maybe slightly longer) from the elements, and toasty warm. She is usually a small but sized up so a fleece/sweater would feel comfortable.

    SO AMAZING

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 135lbs

This is a seriously awesome jacket. It fits well (not boxy like most Patagonia fits), the arms are a good length 9with again, a is a Patagonia problem), and it SO warm. I have never had a jacket that it was too hot to wear at any point during the winter other than this jacket. It's awesome and totally worth the price tag.

I finally found THE perfect coat!

I’ve been searching for a warm coat that doesn’t fit like a box and this one is perfect! I live in MA and this one is perfect for the cold weather. I did size up to a medium based on the reviews (I’m 5’5” and 135) and the size is perfect. I’m warm enough with just a thin shirt but I can wear extra layers under it if needed. As some reviewers have mentioned, the sleeves are slim fitting but not uncomfortable or too tight at all.

      Cozy and not too marshmallowy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Xs
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 120lbs

I bought an xs... I’m 5’4”, 120 pounds with a 32” bust, 23” waist and 36” hips. The coat goes down to a couple inches above my knees, and fits well with the exception of slight snugness in the shoulders. I have tried on North Face and a few other brands and found Patagonia to be the best for the price... durable fabric, nice fleece lined pockets and collar. I have worn it on 15-20 degree days here in Wisconsin and found it to be cozy thus far. It is WAY more flattering than the Marmot Montreaux, which I loved the quality, but definitely looked like a fluffy puff marshmallow.

Fabulous parka but sizing template bad

      • Size Bought: small and medium
      • Height: 5'2"
      • Weight: 110lbs

I love this parka. I am so disappointed that I cannot have one! bought the size small and it was tight under the arms. Returned. Bought the medium. Great on top but huge on bottom. The sizing template seems to have changed to accommodate women with larger bottoms. This isn't just Patagonia -- I experienced this with coats from Canada Goose and others. And I have read similar comments on other brands. I am convinced-- the manufacturers have revised their patterns to accommodate broader women. I don't know where to look for a coat! My 15 year old parka, which fits perfectly, will have to keep going.

      Beautiful Quality but Runs Small

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 116lbs

I normally wear a size 2-4 regular so I ordered the small. For me this coat fit perfect through the shoulders with more than enough length in the sleeves but was too tight through the hips (my hips 35"). I have long legs and a high waist and I think If I was just a couple of inches taller it would have fit me perfectly. Wish it came in a Petite.

      Warm and comfortable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 140lbs

I bought this coat over four months ago and have been beyond happy with it. I live in Maryland and it has been great for the winter here. I can wear it with just a T-shirt or long sleeve shirt underneath and be perfectly warm. I like that I don’t need a bunch of layers underneath. The hood is really convenient too.

      Finally the Perfect Down Parka!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XS
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 120lbs

I love this jacket. I searched FoReVeR to find the right down coat. I tried Marmot, OR, Lole - and Patagonia "Down With It" is perfect! It's long enough, sleeves are the perfect length, the hood covers a little of my forehead, super warm, and lightweight. I can easily fit a sweater underneath. I also like that it's more tapered at the waist I live in Northern Minnesota (so -40 temps.) and this keeps me super warm..

      Love this coat!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 120lbs

I bought the "Patagonia Down With it Parka" to get a warm and more light weight winter coat! I wear size 4, and I'm 5' 4" and 120 lbs. I first ordered a small but it was to tight around my hips, I exchanged it for a Medium (Navy) and perfect fit! I can wear a sweater underneath or just a T-shirt and find that I stay plenty warm. It has been worn with wind chill of -20 below to 40 degrees and I've been very comfortable. I love it so much that I have ordered a shorter coat for short errands where I will be in and out of the car! Between the two coats, I think they will get me thru until spring! I would highly recommend this coat!

      Great for the mid-west cold!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Got this for my other half, here are her thoughts: Got this jacket before heading out to Minnesota. It made me so happy! and warm! I like the fit of it, it's a little boxy fitting but that being said it looks pretty good on myself (5'7" 130lb) and my sisterhood of the traveling pants friend who is 5'2" 140lb and much more curvy than myself. If more needs to be said about this, I love the detachable hood but would have liked to see it have a cinch so i could close my fave in a little bit more.

Anyway, super happy with this parka. Way to to patagonia.

      Runs Small

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: S
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 130lbs

Normally in Patagonia I have worn a S or even an XS, so I ordered this jacket in small. It is tight in the arms, waist and chest to the point of being uncomfortable sitting down. I would really suggest sizing up, especially if you are going to wear layers underneath.

Not as warm as I'd hoped!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: xl
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 150lbs

The day this coat arrived, I immediately unpacked it and tested it outside on a 13 degree F day. Yikes! There was a very mild wind, and it seemed to cut right through. Even after I tried to fluff up the down a little (I thought maybe it had compressed and compacted during shipping), the coat was just not that warm. Also, the arms are really, really, really long! Most coat sleeves are a little short on me, but these hung below my thumbs. I'm 5' 7", 150 pounds, and usually wear a large in coats. Based on the recommendations, I sized up to an XL, but only the sleeves seemed extra large-- there's no way I could have worn a L. Also, the waist hit at my hips so it pulled unflatteringly there and poofed out where my actual waistline is. An odd mix of too large and too small.

      Wonderfully cozy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: M
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 130lbs

I do not know how I have survived winters for so long without this parka! I have a few Patagonia down jackets, but needed to up the ante for a few winter trips where I would be outside in 20 below weather all day. This did the trick and then some.
The only thing I wish was a bit different is the bottom is pretty broad, and I wish it was a bit more tight fitting to keep out the cold around my legs.

      Warm & Comfy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 5'4"

This coat was just what I was looking for. It is a slimmer cut, so I went up a size so that I can wear a bulky sweater under it. I’m a 10/12 & usually wear a large but went with the XL. Warm & comfy & great with dresses or leggings.

      I Don't Know How I've Survived

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

      (My Wife's take)
I do not know how I have survived so many winters here in Utah without Down Jackets in my life. They do a great job of regulating heat and making the cold winter mornings nice and bearable. The extra length is glorious when you first get into your frigid car in the mornings and especially appreciated when the cold wind blows. Fit seems pretty spot on.

      SO WARM AND COZY

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: small
      • Height: 5'5"
      • Weight: 123lbs

I bought this as a gift, and I definitely had second thoughts about giving it to her. Mainly because I wanted to keep it for myself!

At first, I was hesitant about the coat, thinking it would be too puffy and bulky, After trying it on though, it didn't feel bulky at al.l. It's definitely not an ultra-thin coat, but like the classic down look of it. Another thing is that the fabric is surprisingly soft. It doesn't have that annoying feel or sound of a sleeping bag. Instead, it actually feels really soft and durable. I also love that the hood is removable, which allows you to have a more professional look if you want it off. All in all, I think it's a great coat and definitely worth the money. Pattagucci wins again!
(Also, I bought it in a small as a gift, but I would personally probably wear an XS).

      Patagonia Down With It Parka

Love this jacket, it feels like you're wearing a giant sleeping bag, but it looks like a stylish down jacket. It hits you right above your knees, and is a little bulkier than other jackets this style, but that's what makes it so great for really cold days.

Is this coat actually knee length? I am 5'6.

        Tanja,

This is knee length, so it should be right, for your height. If it's not what you need, though, the Downtown parka will definitely be long enough. If this is the case, please call or email me directly for assistance.

I want to exchange my Patagonia coat for another style - do I have to pay shipping charges to send my coat back?

does this coat have interior wrist cuffs to seal out the cold?

No it doesn't. The cuffs are just plain, sewed like a tee-shirt cuff and no elastics or anything so I suppose cold air could get in (it's not wide open, at least on me, so I'm not too worried about that but I don't have the smallest wrists nor skinny arms!).
