    Are you down with it?

The Patagonia Women's Down With It Parka digs warm times in cold cities. Down insulation gives the jacket a toasty feel with lightweight loft, and you can trace the jacket's down back to birds that were never force-fed or live-plucked. Patagonia treated the recycled polyester shell with a DWR finish to shield you from snow and light precipitation. A hood provides additional protection when the wind begins to blow, and can be removed for a more streamlined look on calm days. Zippered hand pockets let you keep your phone and gloves secure when you pop into your local coffee shop for a warm drink. With a longer cut, the Down With It Parka keeps you warm from your head to your knees as you enjoy the season.

    Great coat for cold winters

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xl
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 150lbs

Just received my coat, "Down with it Parka. " I ordered an extra large for layering and am glad I did. I have a heavy sweatshirt under it and it fits perfectly. Im 5'7" and 150 lbs. . I can see this coat going to the opera, as well as, our cottage. I am a little dissapointed the Patagonia label isnt on the front but, I guess this way it's dressier. Overall, Im very happy.

    The warmest down jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I bought this jacket in navy because the grey one was sold out last winter. I believe black, navy, or grey would all look great on you! This is the warmest down jacket yet stylish and soft. I wear a turtleneck sweater underneath, and it fits well; however, if you want to wear a thicker sweater or feel like more room under it, I recommend you to size up. I receive compliments every time I wear it. I am buying another one in Large grey this year and will update my comments on it. Patagonia holds its name well.

    Warm and Toasty

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

This jacket is perfect for the coldest days! When i was reading reviews, a lot of people were complaining about the bulk. I would say its all a preference, but i love the extra warmth and extra length on this jacket.

    I wish they had a SMM-edium

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 127lbs

It is a beautiful jacket, that does indeed keep you very warm. Before making my purchase, I read all of the reviews, I decided to go with a size small, I am 5'3" 127lbs size 28-29 hip measurement (Just had a baby), with that being said the jacket fit perfect, but left very little room to comfortably add layers underneath. I will agree with some of the other reviews, it was snug in the arms/chest area. Although I was able to zip the jacket up with no problem, I just felt that there was little room to have active movement (I felt to be tight if I had to bend over, pick up kids, or go on a walk with the dogs). After much thought, and since it is an investment piece, I decided to exchange it for a Medium. I contacted customer service and was not disappointed. They were extremely friendly and helpful and because of this experience, I will happily order from this company in the future.

    Great Jacket!

I ordered this one and the Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Jacket, to compare which one I would like better. I ended up going with this one. The arms on this jacket seemed to have more down and a little bit warmer. The fit was more flattering, and the all around quality was just a little bit better than the Mountain Hardwear. It is a little bit more so you're paying for that quality. Overall a great jacket!

      Utilitarian and puffy

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'2"
      • Weight: 123lbs

I was looking for a coat to keep me warm when I move from NYC to Chicago, where I'll probably be walking outside a good distance to the train. I ordered this one and a higher-rated but slimmer and more expensive competitor coat to try on both. Cons: The Patagonia coat felt like I was wearing a sleeping bag, and looked not far off that. It lacked style and wasn't flattering to me personally. Pros: The hood fits nicely and doesn't blind me. I'd imagine it would stay put in wind, too. Also, this coat is WARM. Nevertheless, given the other coat was slimmer and just as warm, I decided to return this one. If you're looking for a coat for hardcore outdoor cold weather, and you care less about looking slim or stylish, go for this one!

      Utilitarian and puffy

      Warm & Comfy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 145lbs

I bought this for my girlfriend as a Christmas present. She absolutely loves it, it's stylish, warm and as she would say it goes great with her wardrobe.

      Best Jacket Ever!

      • Size Bought: medium
      • Height: 5'5"
      • Weight: 150lbs

I love this Jacket. it is Patagonias warmest Women jacket available. it fits perfect to size, but the only thing that sometimes bugs me is the bell bottom. Wish it was more slim at the bottom, but i can understand the purpose of it being how it is now.

      Almost perfect

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: S
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 120lbs

This is nice coat but really wish it had cuffs. Also it feels quite tight in arms and chest, though otherwise quite puffy. Thought about trying larger size, but was worried that the rest of coat would be too big-- and I really want cuffs.

      Amazingly warm!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 143lbs

I'm 5'9" and usually wear a small or medium. I love the length of this coat and I love that the arms are long enough to cover my gloves! It's super warm and very light. If feels like your in a down sleeping bag! The olive color is very appealing! Wore it out today (18 degrees with 20 mph wind and snowing) only had a long sleeve shirt on underneath and was toasty! When I wear layers under it I stay warm but don't get over hot. It's so worth the money! I took a long time making a choice and I'm so happy with this purchase!

      Lovely jacket

Beautiful jacket and wonderful Patagonia quality in all details. I am returning unfortunately as it's too snug under the arms and across the shoulders. I am 5'7" 127 lbs with semi broad shoulders but no chest :). The medium is perfect and not too puffy.

        Great coat, but runs small

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs small

Gorgeous coat, but runs very small. I normally wear a size 14 in most coats. Ordered this in XL and it's a very tight fit over a thin shirt, so have to return it. I own another Patagonia jacket in XL and it's a loose fit over a sweater. Very disappointed that Patagonia sizing is not consistent.

        Warmest jacket I've ever had!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium
        • Height: 5'7"
        • Weight: 130lbs

This is the only jacket I've ever had that has kept me toasty warm in Northern Michigan winters! I was plenty warm when it was 15 degrees out with strong wind. It is very lightweight and not bulky at all like most winter jackets. So happy with this purchase!

        Best Winter Coat!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium
        • Height: 5'2"
        • Weight: 145lbs

I purchased this coat at the beginning of the winter after being displeased with a similar coat of a different brand. I cannot say enough things about this coat! It is super warm, very true to size, and as figure flattering as a winter coat can be!

        Warm and cozy jacket!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Large
        • Height: 6'
        • Weight: 155lbs

This is a great warm around town jacket. For those of us who live in the mountains with cold weather most of the year, this jacket keeps you warm while out and about. The down is insulating while not being terribly puffy and big. The cut is slimming and flattering. Zippered and lined pockets keep hands warm and small items secure while zipped up. The hood is functional and fits well allowing you to see what's going on while wearing it. Overall it's a must have winter piece.

        great jacket

        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: large
        • Height: 5'6"
        • Weight: 150lbs

I received my Patagonia pebble gray jacket today and it fits perfect. I purchased the large. I am 5'6 and 150 lbs. My arm length is 33" and this jacket fits perfect in the arms and back and all around with a small exception on my chest area. I am a size 38 and a full C cup. On my chest its a little snug but I think I can handle it. An Extra large would be to big. This jacket does not make me look fat. It's flattering. Hope this helps girlfriend.

        Very puffy

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: medium
        • Height: 5'6"
        • Weight: 145lbs

I bought the pebble grey coat. I LOVED the color. It is super warm and comfortable. I think it's a perfect size. However, I returned it because 1 - it's super puffy and not flattering and 2 - I was afraid of it getting dirty quickly.

        Figure flattering and Warm

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small
        • Height: 5'1"
        • Weight: 125lbs

This coat is warm but not heavy/bulky. Fits true to size and figure flattering. I'm short (5'1") and it's true knee length on me. I've been wearing it in the sub-zero wind chill days in Chicago and I'm so glad I have it!

Is this coat actually knee length? I am 5'6.

        Tanja,

This is knee length, so it should be right, for your height. If it's not what you need, though, the Downtown parka will definitely be long enough. If this is the case, please call or email me directly for assistance.

I want to exchange my Patagonia coat for another style - do I have to pay shipping charges to send my coat back?

does this coat have interior wrist cuffs to seal out the cold?

No it doesn't. The cuffs are just plain, sewed like a tee-shirt cuff and no elastics or anything so I suppose cold air could get in (it's not wide open, at least on me, so I'm not too worried about that but I don't have the smallest wrists nor skinny arms!).
